Turns out, some of the methods and approaches to change we are discovering might not be that new - in fact we seem to be re-discovering. Especially societies with tribal heritage seem to resonate with what the rest of the world is starting to figure out - “We Always Knew, We Just Forgot!” Engage with one of the leading thinker in ancient and current change wisdom looking at how to helping organizations innovate and manage complexity by working with groups to unleash creativity, discover opportunities, and build on momentum - a skill set that has always been helped by a little bit of improvisation… Keith McCandless is co-developer and co-author of “The Surprising Power of Liberating Structures.” His eclectic skills have been honed with groups all over the world, and are grounded in organization development, complexity science, business strategy, and graphic facilitation. Keith holds a Masters in

  • Mgmt. of Human Services from Brandeis Univ. and currenly lives in Seattle with his wife, Anne, and

EMBODY THIS!

APPLYING IMPROVISATION TO INSTIGATE CHANGE

May 17 - 19, 2018 BGSU @Levis Commons & the Hilton Garden Inn in Perrysburg, Ohio

www.ISODC.org & NEXUS4change.com

Ellen Feldman Ornato & Jenny Drescher

Founding Partners [www.theboldercompany.com] We talk a lot about change. We tell people how they should be. But what types of learning stick? What does it look like when individuals are truly embodying leadership qualities that make change possible? The best organizations have cultures where individuals take ownership and feel comfortable asking for support. They listen fully, recognize the contributions of all players and dare to take risks (and possibly fail). Join us to learn how immersive applied improvisation programs change

  • behaviors. Bolder, more generous team members behave courageously, with

curiosity and levity. These behaviors set up the organization to close more sales, retain employees, attract top talent, and overcome challenges with greater ease and collaboration. Founders Ellen Feldman Ornato & Jenny Drescher have a combined 30+ years of facilitation experience and have been making mischief emboldening others since 2015.

Al Blixt J.D. & Paul Tolchinsky, Ph.D. [www.wholescalechange.com/founders]

The Purpose of Whole-Scale ChangeTM is the creation of change in organisations, networks and communities that requires the active involvement and commitment

  • f multiple stakeholders in order to be long lasting, effective and successful. Using

microcosms representing the entire range of levels, functions, geography and ideas in an organisation, Whole-Scale processes provide a way of working with the whole system to create and sustain system change. Find out how these processes can enable a critical mass of the organisation to create a new culture in the moment that models what the organisation can look like and becomes the vehicle for powerful change in the whole system. Al Blixt has 20 years experience in Whole-Scale Change in addition to working as an attorney, university professor, and advertising & marketing executive and extensive experience working with colleges and universities to mobilize entire campuses to increase retention and graduation rates. Paul Tolchinsky is a internationally known consultant, author, speaker, lecturer, managing and facilitating large system change efforts. His work is featured in Large Group Interventions (Bunker and Alban, 1997), and The Change Handbook.

THE FUTURE OF WORK, WORKERS, AND WORKING:

MIND BENDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR CHANGE AND INNOVATION

www.ISODC.org & NEXUS4change.com

Steve Cady, Ph.D. [www.NEXUS4change.org]

From cryptocurrencies, to artificial intelligence, robotics, and automated software implementations, our world is changing faster than ever and is about to make most of our current perceptions of ‘work’ obsolete. Experts are no longer debating ‘if’ - but ‘how’ and ‘how soon’ our work environments will completely change. Many are suggesting that time frame is 5- 10 years at the

  • most. How will these changes affect Organization Development and Change?

What challenges and opportunities lie ahead? Join this engaging and interactive session and explore your place in that future workplace. Steve Cady is strongly committed to using cutting-edge approaches that inspire system-wide change in organizations, by pursuing research and practice that unleashes passion at the individual and whole system levels. Steve is a Graduate Faculty member at Bowling Green State University where he served as the Director of the Master of Organization Development Program and Director of the Institute for Organizational Effectiveness.

FOCUS ON STABILITY AND CHANGE:

YOUR PATH TO FAST AND LASTING RESULTS

Jake Jacobs, MSOD & Margaret Seidler MPA [www.polaritypartnerships.com]

While our political and social environments seem to increasingly focus on either/or and us vs. them approaches; the reality of today's world is one of increasing inter- dependency and complexity. So it is vital to utilize problem solving AND both/and thinking (i.e., Polarity) to address our challenges and opportunities. The research is clear: Organizations that leverage polarities outperform those that don't. Discover how to leverage your most strategic Polarities (i.e. paradox, wicked problems, chronic tensions, dilemmas, etc.) to become more innovative and agile. The integration of Real Time Strategic Change and Polarity Thinking creates a powerful approach for fast and lasting results by leveraging the polarity of Stability AND Change. Jake Jacobs was one of the first Polarity Masters in the world. He has fully integrated the practice and principles into his unique Real Time Strategic Change-practice with companies, communities and countries around the world. Margaret Seidler is a a nationally recognized OD consultant, trainer, author and certified Polarity Management Masters, based in Charleston, SC. Her practice focuses on creating higher performance in organization and community systems.

A COLLABORATIVE MEDIATION MODEL:

THREE PILLARS OF IMPLEMENTATION

Rick Fenwick Ph.D. & RJ Fenwick Ph.D. [www.fenwicktd.com]

Where do you go with seemingly intractable issues and disagreements? Consider having a mediation template for resolving conflicts between key stakeholders or stakeholder groups. This approach starts with structured interviews with key

  • stakeholders. A mediation approach is used to implement three pillars: leadership,

readiness, and performance. Conflicts are managed through mediation and an enabling structure. Targeted engagements focus on relationships and resolution while the follow-up sustains those resolutions and empowers the relationships in a process that can be facilitated in-person, via hybrid or blended approaches (online/onsite), or in virtual team environments (totally via distance). Rick Fenwick has over 30 years of experience consulting with organizations and has worked in unionized manufacturing and state government in implementing teams, stress management, and conflict resolution. RJ Fenwick has consulted with and delivered training for manufacturing

  • rganizations for the past 17 years and specializes in negotiation, customized

training and team implementation.
