social, economic, gender and environmental justice and be free from all forms of domination and exploitation, such as neoliberalism, corporate globalization, neo- colonialism and militarism.

CBD’s Post 2020 Framework needs to:

• 1. Ensure planetary boundaries are not
• exceeded. Voluntary contributions are not

sufficient for this.

• 2. Build on the Aichi targets and ensure

continuation of implementation.

• 3. Over and above the existing targets:
• Halt the drivers of biodiversity loss and

ensure regulation is in place to do so

• Monitor investment that is harmful for

biodiversity and set up plans to stop it

• Give full cooperation and enhance the role
• f Indigenous peoples and local communities,

who are proven to be the best guardians for biodiversity

• Increase biodiversity in areas where humans

live

• 4. Include strong and effective

implementation and compliance mechanisms.

• 5. Real system change will be needed. There

is no unlimited growth on a limited

planet, and corporations need to be

harnessed.
