Frequent Comments Student focused / student centered Recruiting / retaining teachers as a strategic theme Clear and well-organized framework Data-informed decisions as a strategic theme Social / emotional support as a strategic theme Based upon community input, broad stakeholder involvement Equity integrated throughout Curriculum as a strategic theme Outcomes are well-defined
9
General Comments Response Communication needs to be improved
communications processes Need to ensure follow through for implementation of this strategic plan
reported for each outcome
will be reported to the board and community Strategic Themes need more specificity
Equity and diversity need to be specifically addressed
understand progress on equity
equity Parent, family and community engagement should be incorporated throughout the strategic themes
involvement in initiative implementation Smaller class sizes need to be considered
strategic theme Not enough focus on teachers (support, training)
support for teachers in implementation
10
Comment Recommendation Safety needs to be incorporated
Support for Students to include safety Guaranteed and viable curriculum needs to allow for flexibility
under this strategic theme Social-emotional support for students is too far toward the bottom, should be a priority
priority order, maximize the student-focus of the framework by listing the student-oriented themes first “Data-informed” should not just mean numbers and test scores, need to consider qualitative information
Learner-driven Decisions”, to clarify that consideration will be given to a variety of factors aligned with student learning
Suggestions were provided for initiatives to be considered within each strategic theme during the next phase of design. These will be provided to the Strategy Teams for consideration.
