Pesticides can enter the body in the following 3 ways: • Dermal: when skin and eyes are not protected, or when pesticides soak through clothing. MAURITIUS • Inhalation: by breathing, especially in closed spaces . • Ingestion: by swallowing, when eating, drinking, or smoking with contaminated hands. Consequences of contamination can be very serious.

  51. Personal hygiene • Personal hygiene – VERY IMPORTANT when using crop protection products. • DO NOT eat, drink or smoke • Do not touch the face or other bare skin with contaminated hands or gloves • Always wash hands and face before eating, drinking or smoking, or going to the toilet .

  52. Protective Equipment: 4. Care of PPE Care of protective clothing MAURITIUS Wash after Use - using soap or detergent and water. Wash separately from all other clothing. Ensure that all work clothing is kept in good condition (no tears, badly worn areas, or holes).
