Abstract

The Stability Meter for Hydrogen Peroxide is the only automatic instrument available in the market for hydrogen peroxide stability evaluation. It has been designed, developed and manufactured by Gamba & Botteghi company in collaboration with Solvay Chimie. The instrument is externally composed by an epoxy resin case, well resistant to temperature and corrosion and waterproof, on which are disposed an industrial operator front panel PLC, two diving plates (measurement columns) and a thermoregulated demi water bath. Each measurement column is composed by a cooling column, a low pressure switch device, an electrovalve and a 50 ml pirex flask. The presence of the operator is needed to fill 25 ml of H2O2 sample into the pirex flask and to lock it under the cooling column with a metal joint clip; then following the step-by-step PLC instructions the operator dives the flask in the thermoregulated demi water bath. The low pressure switch device has a configurable set-point (ex. 80 Pa) and each time the pressure inside the cooling column grows up to 80 Pa, due to Oxygen release, a relay

  • pen the electrovalve permitting oxygen blowing out and dropping pressure inside. The instrument will

automatically complete the analysis, giving result and allowing flask’s emersion. Parameter such as warm up time, analysis time, etc. are configurable. The given results is expressed as velocity of decomposition [ml_O2 /min]. Each measurement column has to be montly calibrated using a very precision dosimetric pump able to drop 5 ml

  • f demi water in 20 minutes, supplied with our calibration kit.

The first Stability Meter for Hydrogen Peroxide has been produced in 1995 and has been modified, optimized and customized under Solvay Chimie requests during the years. Until today we count 14 device around Solvay Chimie laboratories and plant in all over Europe
