The West Virginia Legislature enacted a sports betting law

Regulation of the retail and online sportsbooks at all five of West Virginia’s casinos falls under the purview of the West Virginia Lottery.

• WV was the fifth U.S. state to offer legal sports betting
• One of the first to allow for online sports betting
• Each facility is authorized to operate up to three

mobile apps that allow for online sports wagering within the State’s borders

• 10% tax with 15% of that for admin costs

• The West Virginia Lottery worked diligently to craft

emergency rules for casinos and suppliers upon passage of the legislation and the repeal of PASPA

• Nevada and New Jersey were used as models
