❑ SiloRe@der is a bolt on weighing system that gives an accurate weight indication of the silo content, and not just an indication for full or empty based on a level measurement. ❑ SiloRe@der measures the actual weight of the silo and its contents in kg  It uses load cell technology sensors attached to the silo legs, reducing drastically the installation time without needing to lift the silo or make any changes on the silo legs.  SiloRe@der costs the same or a little more than a high-end level sensor such as sonars or capacitive ropes , without the disadvantages of these systems.  SiloRe@der can be successfully installed to almost any silo supported by

• legs. Silo contents can be: cement, sand, aggregates, flour, grain like corn,

rice, wheat, barley, oats, minerals, coal, chemicals, plastics, liquids or liquefied gases.

PROTEM can fully support such a solution. ❑ For level control of liquids inside uniform tanks we propose pressure sensors instead of SiloRe@der. ❑ An experienced technician can easily install SiloRe@der on his own, following the instructions included with the system.

❑ The name SiloRe@der implies that it is used in silos. It can also be used on any vessel supported by legs or a steel frame. ❑ SiloRe@der can be easily fixed to any “H” beam legs with best accuracy results. It can be also used successfully on rectangular tube legs, round shaped and “L” section silo legs, provided that the sensor can be bolted on properly, and that the stress level at this location is within required levels. ❑ It is difficult to use SiloRe@der in vessels with multiple compartments when a separate weighing information is required for each compartment.

❑ Each SiloRe@der sensor is basically a load cell that, instead of measuring force, is bolted onto a surface where it measures the expansion or compression of the surface. ❑ Onto the metal plate of the sensor, four thin foil strain gauges are bonded and connected in a full Wheatstone Bridge arrangement. ❑ They operate on the principle that as the foil is stretched or compressed, the resistance of the foil changes in a defined way. ❑ The resistance value is measured and converted in equivalent kilos by a weighing indicator.

❑ SiloRe@der sensors measure the force in each leg. ❑ The force is always parallel to the axis of the leg, not vertical, unless the leg is also vertical. ❑ The centerline of all symmetrical legs is the Neutral Axis. SiloRe@der sensors should always be mounted along this axis with a maximum deviation of ±3mm. ❑ Locate sensors where lateral bending forces are at a minimum.

How to mount the sensors

❑ Mark the middle of the leg height taking into consideration that the desired mounting location must be free from bumps, burrs, and weld seams. The sensors need to be mounted on a flat surface. ❑ Draw a vertical line at the center of the leg and align the holes of the drill template with the line. Punch two marks through the two holes and drill gradually until the final diameter is reached . ❑ If nuts cannot be used to secure the sensor, make a thread to the opened holes and use screws to secure the sensors. ❑ Screw the sensors onto the legs using safety nuts

The Indicator

❑ The PROTEM CTZ-52 Smart Weighing Indicator is the ideal panel mount instrument for SiloRe@der

• applications. Small in size (96x96 mm), it can be

easily mounted on any industrial panel or electrical board door. ❑ CTZ-52 has 5 programmable outputs and 3 inputs. It can be connected to dedusting filters, filling valves, upper and lower limit lights and sirens. ❑ RS485 Modbus communication, allows easy connection to a PLC or PC. In applications with more than 1 silo, many indicators can be placed next to the silos and through one only cable, all silos can transmit their data to a remote PLC or PC.
