conditions, characterizes ecosystem-wide processes and shoreline ecological function

designations, goals, policies, and regulations for shorelines

  • Land use patterns
  • Zoning
  • Shoreline modifications
  • Ecosystem-wide processes (e.g. movement of sediment and water)
  • Slope stability
  • Drift cell locations
  • Riparian vegetation/shoreline characteristics

  • Report allows the County to identify:
  • gaps in shoreline related data
  • potential shoreline use issues
  • opportunities for public access, protection, and restoration.

  • Reach breaks created based on physical shoreline features, land use,
  • wnership types, etc.
  • Two reaches may have same or different SEDs
  • Inventory and Characterization used to draft preliminary shoreline

environment designations (SEDs), consistent with Ecology recommendations

  • SED report builds on Inventory & Characterization; prescribes a SED to

each shoreline reach
