About SENTECH

SENTECH is the premier provider of electronic communications network services in the broadcasting and communications industry. The state-owned company is licensed to provide Electronic Communications Network Services (ECNS) and Electronic Communications Services (ECS) services. Enabling broadcasting and digital content services to corporate institutions, government departments and state-owned entities, SENTECH is critical to stability of the telecommunications industry.

The Company is wholly owned by the Government of the Republic of South Africa and the Shareholder Representative is the Minister of Communications. SENTECH provides broadcast transmission services to SABC’s radio and television stations, eTV, MNet, and over 150 community radio stations country- wide. Its infrastructure and data communications platforms also provide services to South Africa’s telecommunication sector and mobile providers.

SENTECH has expanded its foot- print to clients in sub-Saharan Africa to provide broadcasting managed services such as Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) solutions, Digital Radio (DAB+), training and consultancy services. SENTECH offers a wide range of services designed to meet the needs of broadcast and telecoms

SENTECH core business is fragmented into three categories namely:

- This covers broadcasting signal distribution services
including business television delivered via satellite. There are other value-added services that form part of this service such as OTT, broadcast monitoring and syndication and Hybrid Broadcasting (e.g. HbbTV and Hybrid Radio)
Content and Multimedia Services
- With vast experience in managing different types of
networks from broadcasting to telecommunications, SENTECH has built up a strong capability in network design, deployment, operation and maintenance.
Infrastructure Management
- SENTECH has positioned itself to play a significant role in
the implementation of SA Connect and servicing government in wireless broadband services. The
- rganisation will be involved in wireless broadband services
in support of SOC-nominated beneficiaries that will lead the broadband rollout.
