 Growth in Number of Services  In 2005 when Rev. James arrived, church had 1 service 2 times per month for Youth and Young

  • Adults. Currently have 2 separate worship services

for children, youth and young adults every Sunday.  In the process of changing this model of ministry to create a more intergenerational worship service.  Growth in Family Baptism  Increase in the number of Family Baptisms as a result of ministry to the family and community; Increase in the number of children and youth commitment to Christ.  Increase in graduation rate  Through partnership with parents, academic counselors and mentors 100% of the participants graduate from High School  Plays key role in development of Mentoring Programs, Academic Enrichment and Leadership development programs.  Increasing the number of youth and young adults willing to become leaders in church and community.  Many of the participants return to the church after graduation to assist in development of future leaders.  Outreach event grew from local community to a City-Wide Event with over 600 families.  Developed Youth Entrepreneurship Program for Scholarships  Developing new leaders in ministry and community.

 Nominated to the Executive Board for Lott Carey Global Missions Society.  Nominated to serve as the Director for the International Youth Development Department of the Lott Carey Global Missions Society  Responsibilities include setting the direction for Youth and Young Adult missionaries Globally.  Training Churches how to participate in Missions Locally and Internationally.  Developing new leaders in missions and how to effectively minister to the community where they are planted.  Responsibility include managing a $400,000 budget for Mission Projects, Events and Youth & Young Adult development internationally.  Direct leadership of Volunteer Staff of 12. (Pastors, Youth Directors, & Missionaries)  Partnerships under his responsibility (Haiti, Mozambique, Trinidad & Tobago, South Africa, New Delhi, India, Guyana)  Representing Lott Carey in development of new international and local partnerships.  Develop and plan international conferences for Leaders, Youth and Young Adults to learn about missions. Under his leadership the Youth & Young Adult Conference increased to over 800 participants.  Serve as 1 of 4 leaders planning Lott Carey Global Missions Conference.  Red Door Ministry

 Developed a ministry where members of the community can view church as a “Safe Place”. The red door gives them access to counseling and meditation.

 Known as the “Community Pastor” walking the community daily connecting with people  Member of a local board to help build better partnerships with Schools and Parents  Assisted in training new police officers on interactions with the community.  Lunch with Pastor RJ - visit local schools to have lunch with the students, connecting a face to the church.  Family Meals- Along with wife started “Family Meals” to teach youth and young adults the importance of spending time with the family.  Father’s Day Dinner- For the last 11 years, has taken young men with deceased, incarcerated or absent fathers to dinner on Father’s Day allowing the celebration of them as young men and impart wisdom in their lives.  Random Acts of Kindness- Along with wife, attend community sporting events to celebrate the community, picking a random child to cheer and encourage.

extensive background investigation: Pastor Search Team met with Deacon Fred Byrd Sis. Mayme Grant (Former ZMBC Business Administrator) assisted the Pastor Search Team. Background checks were conducted on the final four candidates. It has been our goal to maintain as much confidentiality as possible.

  • III. Type of Investigation requested by Zion’s Senior Pastor Search

Team:  Standard Criminal History - consisting of a thorough standard criminal history package such as:  Federal District Court Criminal History  National Criminal Super Search (Every State, City, and County) Covering every city and state in which he would have resided (i.e., Florida, Georgia, Tennessee)  In addition to the Standard Criminal History an Executive/ (Pastoral) Level Package was also selected. This package consist of a higher level of intense scrutiny to obtain a complete and thorough screening covering areas such as:  Bankruptcy Search  Credit Report
