Findings from Monitoring
Mentors needed more workshopping by SDP to understand their roles as mentor. Learners struggled with finance/calculation related content of the qualification. Both mentors and learners complained about time versus their workload. The concept of an External Examination (EISA) and its conditions was widely accepted. Learners NOT exposed to Underwriting (experience
- r mentor) were finding the program challenging.
Areas of Im Improvement
Stricter or improved selection of learners and mentors. No chopping & changing of facilitators – enhanced expertise required in delivery of knowledge and practical modules. Better preparation of EISA candidates for
- examination. Less
focus on theory delivery and more focus on application to underwriting cases and scenarios Review of qualification and / or learner material Increased SDP support to Mentors &
- Employers. A
mentoring agreement is recommended Relevant work exposure and relevant coaching by provider (SMEs) on practicals.
What to consider as a SDP when preparing for implementation
a) Recruitment of learners, mentors to support implementation. b) Registration of learners on QCTO System (File 01 & File 02). c) Implementation plan for the rolling out of the modules. d) System for the collection/storage of learner evidence & POEs. e) Establish a learner support system to assist learners throughout the training duration.
Monitoring & Support Visits (A (AQP/QCTO)
SDP to prepare a schedule for physical monitoring by AQP:
- learner experiences
- facilitator support
- mentor support
- general verifications (POE)
QCTO conducts desk-top monitoring/verification based on information supplied via its learner
- portal. In addition, the QCTO conducts
monitoring visits to the training delivery sites and the office of the SDP
IN INSETA AQP Monitoring by QCT CTO
- Confirmation of learner registration on QCTO
system
- Drafting and approval of a QAS Addendum (
exam blueprint)
- EISA exam marking memo discussion
- EISA results moderation meeting
- EISA exam invigilation monitoring
