MENTAL WELLNESS ASSISTANCE ALLOCATION The plans must be focused on evidence-based mental health treatment and provide: Mental Health Assessments ➢ Evidenced Based Interventions and Treatment Options ➢ Recovery Services ➢ Coordination Plans ➢ The intent of the legislation is to EXPAND School Based Mental Health Services.

OBJECTIVE • To expand “in school” mental wellness services for all students. • Provide resources and interventions to all students and families, especially students unable to access services through a community provider. • Provide interventions and strategies that equip students with the necessary skills to be successful. • Provide Targeted Interventions with Community Support

GOALS • Goal 1: Assist students in developing self-awareness and self-management skills to achieve school and life success. • Goal 2: Assist students in developing social-awareness and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain positive relationships. • Goal 3: Provide interventions and resources that promote healthy decision-making skills and responsible behaviors in personal, school, and community contexts for students. • Goal 4: Assist students in developing positive relationship skills that promote healthy interactions with peers and adults. • Goal 5: Assist with coordination of services for students needing additional support.

  14. MENTAL WELLNESS RESPONSE & INTERVENTION TEAMS • Provides 12 additional School Based Mental Wellness Professionals to address the needs of students throughout the district, specifically targeting Tier 2 interventions. • Teams will cover students throughout the school year with a staggered start. • Team 1 and 4 (August-May) • Team 2 (Sept-June) • Team 3 (July-April)

  15. RESPONSIBILITIES Provide immediate assessment, intervention and Respond recommendations. Link Link families and students to community resources. Facilitate Facilitate Youth Mental Health Training for all staff. Provide crisis counseling in the event that a student or faculty Provide member passes away.

  18. ADDRESSING THE NEEDS OF STUDENTS IN CRISIS TRIAGE- Reaffirm physical health and ensure mental health and physical safety. Provide a low level mental health assessment for students to determine the level of support needed. EVALUATION- Evaluate a student’s levels of psychological risk (low, moderate, high) and provide appropriate interventions and mental health responses. RESPONSE-Ensure appropriate and timely interventions are implemented for each level of psychological risk.

COLLABORATING WITH COMMUNITY PARTNERS • 6 Community Partnerships: Adapt, Chrysalis, Devereux, Children’s Home Society, Halifax Behavioral, Stewart Marchman ACT • Strengthen Collaboration with Community Partners • Quarterly Meetings • Community Referral and Data Management System • Continue Community Agency Partnerships and Referrals • Contract services with Stewart Marchman ACT and Halifax Behavioral Services. • 2 Substance Abuse Professional (Stewart Marchman ACT) • 2 Service Coordinator (Halifax Behavioral Services)

  20. BUDGET Adding An Additional 5th Team Would Cost Approximately $175, 871.00
