  2. Creating a safe space to express The importance of a safe place is crucial while having difficult conversations. Group norms: • Listen actively Exercise respect • • Courageous space Focus on unconscious bias • • Non-closure

  3. We feel connected to other people when we sense that they see us, know us, and care about us. Objectives for these circles are that you will feel: seen ● heard ● understood ● connected to others ● you have given and received respect—and perhaps ● affection—from others

  4. Spring 2016: Board Parent Teacher Advisory Committee (PTAC) reforms as Culture, Climate and Behavior committee, and expands scope from Code of Conduct to a general review of OPRF policies and practices 2016-17: CCB defines its mission with an explicit focus on racial equity, reviews past racial equity work, and develops draft recommendations for the Board

  5. 2017-18: Recommendations are refined and approved by the Board. Superintendent maps initiatives to strategic plan, with owners and timeline identified 2018-19: CCB initiatives are implemented throughout campus, with regular updates from OPRF leadership and Staff. CCB provides input on Data Dashboard and other district initiatives

  6. This year, we look forward to building on our previous work, with added focus on: ● Aligning CCB activities with the overall OPRF strategic plan ● Building awareness of restorative practices and equity work, on campus and in the broader community ● Expanding analysis of discipline data and OPRF culture and climate indicators
