  2. Why Restorative Justice? • Restorative Justice is a mindset and philosophy toward school climate and relationship building in a system. It is a social justice platform that allows students to actively engage and problem-solve physical, psychological, social and disciplinary issues that affect their lives and the community at large, take responsibility for their actions and work with those affected to restore the community and members who were harmed as a result of those actions.

Restorative Justice & RAND Grant: Specifics and Expectations Implementation Timeline: • Schools sign up for participation in the study. • Randomized controlled trial for school selection is conducted. • Selected schools are notified. • Schools not selected become part of the control group. • Selected schools will have from January 2018 to August 2018 to train and prepare. • Schools will unroll September of 2018. • Control schools receive information on research schools implementation and keep warm for inclusion the following year.

MCPS Student Affairs and Well-Being Program Vision … Under the Restorative Justice framework, the MCPS Student Affairs and Well-Being program will function as a multidimensional approach to facilitate the academic, physical, social and psychological safety and well-being of all Montgomery County Public School students.
