Key Distinctions • Curriculum : what students need to know and be able to do including unit plans, formative and summative assessments, alignment to resources, etc. • Resources : materials used to support teaching and learning experiences aligned to the curriculum • Instructional Strategies : teaching techniques used to support students in mastering the curriculum • Language Acquisition : process students go through as they learn the elements of a new language, including vocabulary, phonological components, grammatical structures, and writing systems 2

Goals for Resource Adoption Ensure that the resources selected: • Provide a foundation for relevant and personalized learning experiences for all learners • Support best practices for each content area, including equitable access, high quality assessments, and meaningful technology integration • Provide K-12 vertical and horizontal alignment • Align to specific learner needs • Consider specific course needs • Are fiscally responsible • Include high quality resources for all students 3
