Our highest priority is the physical and mental health of our students and staff members. We will implement every precaution and safety measure to keep our educational community safe. We are following all guidelines from the Center for Disease Control and the Hunterdon County Health Department. A reopening committee was formed with community members, staff, administration, and board

  • f education members. The reopening committee was broken into 5 sub-committees:

Executive, Sanitation, Health and Safety, Curriculum and Instruction, and Transportation.

Curriculum/Instruction Committee Highlights

  • Hybrid Approach: Students will be placed in Week-by-Week Cohorts. In

this model, each homeroom class will be split into two groups alphabetically by last name: Group A and B. Group B will be in school starting Week 1, while Group A is home participating in virtual learning. The following week, Group B will participate in virtual learning while Group A is in school. Groups will be alphabetically arranged and siblings will be kept in the same cohort.

  • Cohort B (all students with last names M-Z)- August 31st (in-person)
  • Cohort A (all students with last names A-L)- September 8th (in-person)
  • K-8 students will be in school until 1pm.
  • K-8 students in school will be participating in Unified Arts from home each

afternoon.

  • Virtual students will have the opportunity to meet with their teachers each

afternoon via Zoom.

  • Families that opt for 100% remote will fully participate in remote instruction.

Health and Safety Committee Highlights

  • Promote frequent hand washing
  • Allow for social distancing to the maximum extent possible
  • Face coverings are mandatory for all
  • Visitors are not allowed in the buildings
  • Screenings done by families before school
  • Minimize use of shared objects
  • Maintain social distancing in hallways and common areas
  • Health screenings will occur prior to students’ arrival
  • Supporting students and staff in feeling safe, connected, and hopeful
  • Providing professional development to support educators integration of

Sanitation Committee Highlights

  • The district will comply with CDC, State, and local guidelines.
  • The district will continue to adhere to existing cleaning procedures and any new

LHD mandates as they arise.

  • HVAC- Increase filter changes from quarterly to monthly schedule. Change type of

filter being used.The district will modify its current cleaning schedule to include: ○ Sanitize bathrooms daily and between use as much as possible. ○ Deep cleaning on Friday nights and weekends in between cohorts. ○ Increase frequency of cleaning all surfaces, including walls (to the appropriate height based on age of students), from once a week to Monday, Wednesday, Friday schedule. ○ Routinely clean and disinfect surfaces and objects that are frequently touched.

Transportation Committee Highlights

  • Maintaining social distance on buses is not possible, all students must wear

face coverings while on buses unless there is a medical condition that would inhibit their health. A doctor’s note is required.

  • Accommodations for students who are unable to wear a face covering should be

addressed according to that student’s particular need and in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations

  • Students must sit in their assigned seats.
  • Students will board the bus by filling the back rows first, and then progressing

forward

  • Students will exit the bus by dismissing the front rows first, and then progressing

backwards

  • Bus drivers are required to wear face coverings and wash hands frequently
  • Hand sanitizer may be made available at the school bus entrance for each

student to use when boarding

  • Signs reinforcing social distancing and hygiene rules will be hung in buses
