Presentation overview
What are new generation regional plans?
Long-term (25+ year outlook) strategic land use plans Sets a clear regional vision Address existing or emerging regional issues Inform land use planning and decision making Guide infrastructure prioritisation and investment Prepared in collaboration with local governments, state agencies, key stakeholders groups and the wider community More heavily geared toward implementation & delivery Ongoing regional ownership
Duplicate other planning tools, legislation, state-wide policies Attempt to comprehensively deal with all planning issues in the region (e.g. education, health) Address local issues (only strategic regional issues) Commit specific spending or project (infrastructure) delivery – there are other tools and processes for this Duplicate another region’s plan – each regional plan is to deal with the specific region’s issues, but in the same policy context (as relevant)
