What are new generation regional plans?

 Long-term (25+ year outlook) strategic land use plans  Sets a clear regional vision  Address existing or emerging regional issues  Inform land use planning and decision making  Guide infrastructure prioritisation and investment  Prepared in collaboration with local governments, state agencies, key stakeholders groups and the wider community  More heavily geared toward implementation & delivery  Ongoing regional ownership

establishing on GQAL).

  • Transitioning the Townsville CBD into a future health & knowledge precinct and

linking this with the existing hospital/JCU precinct.

  • Supports eco / adventure / cultural tourism uses establishing in existing conservation

areas

  • Nominates strategic environmental areas for protection and directs

rehabilitation/offsets to key locations within a regional biodiversity network
