We are a group of artist, named "REAVIRE" from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts across Singapore, a multi racial country exploring new technology on new media arts. The objectives of this project is to provide an engagement in audiences across the globe through immerse connections , in order to suggest interactivity in the arts and society brought about by digital technology involving on the theme, hologram.

INTRODUCTION

This project will be held in more than two different Zones(countries), E.g: Different zones, such as Zone A & B. Each place will installed with hologram technical machines(Femtosecond laser), each machine project the people from the

  • ther zone; Zone A project hologram of people from zone B, while Zone B is projecting the hologram of Zone A

So both people from the different location can view each other’s projected hologram. This creates an interaction between audiences. Thus, it is the idea of real versus virtual, the audiences against the hologram image of the other

  • zone. Participation is strongly required to create this artwork. By means, audiences could interact and participate,

which gives them the choices to alter the work. The interaction between the viewer and the installation will create continuous change in the artwork. The project will grow as we visit countries across the continent.

CONCEPT AIM

In this project we are trying to creating a connection between people from different country, using a virtual experience to let them interact with each other. Using non-verbal speaking as a form of communication, it requires the audiences to do some problem solving as to how they are going to interact with the virtual person/hologram from another space. (e.g. body language) Thus, this can give people the experiencing of meeting other from a different environment. For a more unusual experience, the audience can also dress up in traditional costumes and such. This can create an more unforgettable memory as one of the contributing aspect this project can be that the two person interacting could be in a different season for example. By transporting the image of the real, we create a virtual interacting space often can be seen in science fiction genre movies such as “Star wars” or “Iron Man” to list a few.

it uses a actual lasers that intersects in midair to ionise the air and generate light as

  • vortexes. This is called the laser plasma emulsion technology.

The lasers ionises patterns in the air so fast that our eyes can’t detect and we perceive the images and shapes. It is dangerous but actually generates a real hologram. Video from. Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGiwROBW5fM

Dangerous as it might burn due to the high energy

People not able to interact

TECHNOLOGY USED

We use femtosecond lasers with pulse durations of 30-100 fs, and 269 fs. This leads to safer plasma generation than nanosecond lasers, which can be incorporated into our daily lives. The design space and possible scenarios of the plasma-based 3D display are discussed. In addition, we use an optical device, called the spatial light modulator (SLM), to modify the phase of light rays and produce various spatial distributions of light based on interference.
