Recycling Status

  • Before Oct 2017 mixed recycling was +$40.00 a ton. Currently

it is -$77.00 a ton.

  • We are paying roughly $0.0385 a pound for mixed recycling.
  • Typically we pay $0.0445 a pound for landfill garbage.
  • With increased prices and staffing at recycling facilities the

market is experiencing closures.

  • New facilities are being constructed abroad.

Recycling Continued

  • City of Walla Walla is still evaluating the situation. Right now they are

maintaining service as long as rates stay below $89.00 a ton.

  • Chinese, American, EU, and Australian ports are currently inundated

with recycling materials. A large portion of this is being sent to landfills.

  • Currently contamination inspections open one pallet. If one pallet is

found to have unacceptable contamination rates the entire ship is rejected.

  • A typical ship contains 20 steal containers of recycling. $3000-$4000

per container.
