Information for Secondary School Teachers: Support for N(A)*/N(T) School Leavers who Did not Apply after Main Phase Application [23 Dec 2019]

  • All N(A)*/N(T) school leavers are encouraged to put in an application during the 1st Phase (Main Phase)

between 19 Dec 2019 (2.30pm) to 23 Dec 2019 (5pm).

  • Secondary School Teachers will contact N(A)*/N(T) school leavers who did not apply during the 1st Phase

(Main Phase) to

  • Remind/Encourage them to apply online during the 2nd Phase (Late Application/Appeal Phase) between 3 Jan

2020 to 7 Jan 2020.

  • Their application results for 2nd Phase (Late Application/Appeal Phase) will be known on 15 Jan at 9am.
  • Unsuccessful applicants can appeal under the 3rd Phase (Final Top-up Phase) between 15 Jan to 23 Jan

2020 and 29 Jan to 10 Feb 2020 for courses with vacancies.

Prepares Sec 4N(A) students for progression into selected polytechnic diploma courses via a 2-year Higher Nitec programme at ITE, and a 10-week DPP preparatory course

About 1,200 places offered across 18 Higher Nitec courses

  • 3. How do I Apply?

Upon release of the GCE N-Level results, all DPP-eligible students may apply for DPP Higher Nitec courses via the ITE website (https://www.ite.edu.sg). You may select up to 12 course choices. Remember to provide updated contact details in your application to allow ITE to contact you if necessary.

  • 4. How Will I be Informed of the Outcome?

You should check your DPP posting results online on the morning of the release of the DPP posting results. You will then have to indicate if you wish to accept/reject/appeal the

  • ffer.

If you do not accept the offer by the stipulated date, it will become void and you will be required to continue with your classes in Sec 5 or with your Nitec course if your application via JIE ‘N’ is successful

  • 5. What

Happens Next?

Upon accepting your DPP

you will attend a 10-week DPP preparatory programme that will start in Jan 2020. * Eligibility Check:  Sec 4N(A) student who sat for GCE N-Level 2019  Obtained ELMAB3 (English, Math, 3 Best subjects) aggregate of 12 points or less (before deduction of CCA bonus points)  Obtained Grade 3 or better for all subjects used in the computation of your ELMAB3 aggregate (Note: Certain PFP courses require an EL grade of 2.) If you can check all 3 boxes above, you’re eligible!

You may select up to five course choices. Remember to provide updated contact details in your application to allow the polytechnics to contact you if necessary. (Note: You should continue to attend Sec 5 from 2 Jan 2020 while applying for PFP.)

  • 4. How Will I be Informed of the Outcome?

You should log in to the PFP portal to check your application outcomes

  • n the day of PFP results release.

You will then have to indicate if you wish to accept/reject/appeal the

  • ffer.

If you do not select any option, your offer will become invalid and you will be required to continue with your classes in Sec 5. (Note: If your appeal is successful, your original offer will be void regardless of whether you accept the new PFP offer.)

Happens Next?

If you accept your offer, you will receive an enrolment package from the polytechnics in February/March 2020. The PFP year will start in April 2020. What should you do:

For students who are only interested in the PFP:

  • Students who are only interested in applying for the PFP should first

progress to Sec 5N(A), even if they meet the PFP eligibility criteria based on their GCE N(A)-Level results in December 2019.

  • They may then apply for the PFP upon release of the GCE O-Level results in

January 2020.

  • If their application is successful, they will withdraw from Sec 5N(A) by the

end of January 20206. All PFP-bound students are required to attend Sec 5N(A) classes in their secondary schools up till the last Friday of January 2020.

What should you do:

For students who are only interested in the DPP:

  • Upon release of the GCE N-Level results in December 2019, all DPP-eligible

students may submit an application online via the ITE website (https://www.ite.edu.sg).

  • Application will be open for four days. During this period, students will have time

to consult their teachers and parents as well as to visit the ITE Colleges to obtain more information on courses that they may be interested in.

  • Details on the DPP application dates will be made available on the ITE website

following the release of the GCE N-Level results.

  • Students who accept their DPP offers will be required to complete their

enrolment by 10 January 2020 (Fri) as the 10-week DPP preparatory programme will commence on 13 January 2020 (Mon).

For students who are uncertain and/or interested in both PFP and DPP:

  • First progress to Sec 5N(A) and then apply for both the PFP and DPP upon

release of the GCE O-Level examination results in January 2020.

  • Students who are offered a place in both the PFP and DPP may only accept
  • ne course offer.
  • Students who accept both offers will have both offers voided. If their

application to either the PFP or DPP is successful, they will withdraw from Sec 5N(A) by the end of January 2020.

Upon completion, GCE O-Level holders can apply for admission to the junior colleges, centralised institute, the polytechnics and ITE. While taking the GCE O-Level pathway provides you with more flexibility in your future options, you need to consider your preferred learning styles, interests, strengths and passions. Are they aligned with your education and career goals?

If you are eligible to be promoted to Sec 5N and wish to continue your study in KC, please inform your form teacher who will indicate the information on the class list today. Deadline is 26 Dec 2019 Students who passed N-Level English and did not qualify for promotion, can apply for promotion to 5 N(A) after the release of ‘O’ level results if they sat for ‘O’ Level subjects and met the promotion criteria based on a combination of their ‘O’ and ‘N’ Level results.

Sec 4N (A) students can re-take their GCE ‘N’ Level if they satisfy the following criteria:

(a) Obtain an aggregate score:

i) Not exceeding 21 points for ELMAB3 (i.e. ELMAB3 ≤ 21), or ii) Not exceeding 14 points for ELB3 (English Language and best three other subjects, which can include Mathematics) (i.e. ELB3 ≤ 14), or iii) Not exceeding 14 points for MAB3 (Mathematics and best three other subjects, which can include English Language) (i.e. MAB3 ≤ 14); and

REPEAT 4NA

Sec 4N (A) students can re-take their GCE ‘N’ Level if they satisfy the following criteria: (b) Will not be more than:

i) 4 years overage, for Singapore Citizens/ Permanent Residents (i.e. born

  • n or after 2 Jan 2000), or

ii) 2 years overage, for International Students (i.e. born on or after 2 Jan 2002)8; and

(c) Sat for the GCE N(A)-Level Examination only once previously.

REPEAT 4NA

  • Students who failed N-Level English or Math and did not meet the

promotion criteria can be retained if they meet the retention criteria of ELB3 ≤ 14 Or MAB3 ≤ 14 .

  • Others would have to apply to join the Institute of Technical Education

(ITE).

  • They can also apply for retention after the release of ‘O’ level results if

they sat for any ‘O’ level subjects and met the retention criteria.

  • Eligible students who wish to consider this are to see Mrs Goh for other

details.
