Protecting the ECO-System along the Danube Macro Region creating a Danube Tech Valley The Danube River Basin comprises

  • f an area of 801,463 km². It is the

world's most international river basin, as it extends into the territories of 19 countries. The ecosystems of the Danube River Basin are highly valuable in environmental, economic, historical and social terms, but they are subject to pressures and pollution from agriculture, industry and cities

  • issues which are jointly addressed

by the Danube Basin countries through the ICPDR. Click on the countries given above to learn more about the basin and its diverse assets. https://www.icpdr.org/main Since its establishment in 1998, the ICPDR has grown into

Solution for Africa Transaqua Project connecting Lake Chad Basin & Congo River

“ In Chad, probably using in part the course of the River Chari itself, the waters from the Congo System could be conveyed to the areas of Chad and Niger north of ´Lake Chad, which are in the process of becoming desertified. In these regions of the Sahel, it can be reckoned that between 5 and 7 million ha could be brought under intensive and semi-intensive type of irrigation development . For purposes of comparisons, it is pointed out that 40 Mio Egyptians live in an irrigated area of under 3 million ha, although cultivated very intensively” In 2017 a letter of agreement was signed for a feasibility study between Italian engineering firm and Power China in Hangzhou, building a 2.400 KM long canal and carry up to 100 billion cubic meter water per year per gravity from Congo to Lake Chad. More details will be disclosed by Dr. Ernest Schmied on request.
