NIRMAAN 2020 Electric Vehicle Startup Conclave Jan 28-29, 2020 SISTec, Gandhinagar, Bhopal TECHNICAL PRESENTATION (in Microsoft PowerPoint) Name of the Candidate(s) NAKSHATRA Technical Paper/Poster Presentation Event Time-Limits

  1. NIRMAAN 2020 Electric Vehicle Startup Conclave Jan 28-29, 2020 SISTec, Gandhinagar, Bhopal TECHNICAL PRESENTATION (in Microsoft PowerPoint) Name of the Candidate(s) NAKSHATRA Technical Paper/Poster Presentation Event

  2. Time-Limits ▪ Time-Limits: ▪ Oral Presentation (with PowerPoint): 10 minutes maximum ▪ Question & Answer session by Judges: 2 minutes ▪ Maximum number of slides 12. ▪ Use Times New Roman font completely. ▪ TIME LIMIT SHOULD BE STRICTLY FOLLOWED ; any extension can lead to deduction of marks. ▪ All the authors may choose to speak , but time-limit should not be exceeded. ▪ Animations & Videos (if any) may be included, but they should be played within the same allotted time limit of 10 minutes.

  3. Guidelines ▪ Presentation should be done on-stage. ▪ Format: Windows PowerPoint 2007 (.pptx) ▪ All audio-visual equipment will be provided: computer, microphones, speaker system, digital projection system etc. E-mail Details ▪ E-mail subject: PRESENTATION. ▪ Deadlines for sending presentation: 27th January 2020

  4. Text • Keep the text as brief as possible. • Data looks better organized & easier to comprehend if given in POINTS. • No more than 10 lines of text (or points) per slide. • All letters on the slide should be big enough to make it readable even at the back of the auditorium.

  5. Slide Background & Readability Choose an attractive picture (related to your topic) as the background for your TITLE slide. For the other following slides, background and text should be in contrasting colors. A light background & dark print works well. A dark background & light print also works well. A dark background & dark print??? Not so much... A light background & light print??? Not at all!

  6. Graphs & Figures ❖ A well-documented graph or figure is a way more attractive and better than lengthy text. ❖ Tables are difficult to read; represent data graphically wherever possible. ❖ A photograph often is worth a thousand words.

  7. A Sample Technical Presentation (10 minutes duration) (12 slides)

  8. 1. Title Slide (1 slide) { Introduce yourself and the title of your Electric Vehicle model. } { Use an attractive picture (related to your topic) as background). } TITLE of the E- Vehicle

  9. 1. Project Plan (1-2 slides) ▪ You should prepare a project plan in MS Project where you can mention the performance targets also. ▪ You should project the contour plan keeping in mind that all the dependent assemblies must be given adequate time accordingly. ▪ Summarized specification to be discussed in the next slide. ▪ Use short but meaningful points. ▪ Explain every point briefly.

  10. 2. Design/3D View/CAE Analysis(1-3 slides) ▪ Prepare a CAD model as per the constraints of an E Vehicle. ▪ Ensure proper space in the roll cage for sub assemblies. Also test the roll cage and mention the result in tabular format. ▪ Selection of material and total estimation of roll cage and vehicle weight must be mentioned. ▪ Calculate the expected center of gravity. ▪ CAE analysis can also be done for the engineering analysis with the help of various software .

  11. 3. Steering/Suspension/Transmission/ Brakes/Tyres (5 slides) ▪ Wheel track distance should be fixed and calculate the steering specification. Calculate steering efforts and turning radius with steering angle, camber, caster and toe in angle. ▪ You should mention the weight distribution, design of spring and damping ratio. Calculate the arm length and also the inclination angle. ▪ Need to mention the types of brakes, the brake even distance at different speeds. Calculate braking force and also draw a circuit diagram having master cylinder to brake pads . ▪ Calculate gear ratio, acceleration, tractive effort, maximum speed in all gears. Select the type of gearbox

  12. 4. Motors/Battery management/Charging option (1 slide) ▪ Various motor options and the one you have chosen should be mention with the justification. ▪ Types of batteries available for E-Vehicle can be discussed. Battery sizing and battery management system is a key aspect of EV so the battery selection should be justified in this slide. ▪ Charging options will be discussed in brief.

  13. 5. Failure (1 slide) ▪ Design failure mode effects analysis and validation plan should be presented in a tabular format. ▪ Failure models of different parts such as Engine, transmission, suspension, brakes and wheels should be summarized. ▪ Precautions and validation should be mentioned against each part. ▪ Also need to mention how to accomplish the failure mode effect analysis with the support of various tests.

  14. 6. Cost Estimation (1 slide) ▪ Cost and weight analysis must be presented in this slide. ▪ Cost of various parts used in different system should be mentioned in a pie chart. ▪ Weight distribution should also be mentioned against each part/system. (Weight should be mentioned in Kg) ▪ Financing statistics can also be mentioned (optional).

  15. 7. Innovation(1 slide) ▪ Mention the unique selling proposition (USP) of your E-Vehicle where you can differentiate with other participants. ▪ Do not explain anything, just mention the innovation that you applied on your vehicle. ▪ Include merits of your innovation. Do not linger for more than 20 seconds on this slide.

  16. 8. Sales & Marketing Strategy(1 slide) ▪ Mention the winning sales and marketing strategy for your E-Vehicle. ▪ You can mention about driving experience, energy saving features of your vehicle. ▪ Also make use of social media platforms. Avoid overselling of product. Do not linger for more than 20 seconds on this slide.

  17. 9. ‘Thank You’ Slide (1 slide) Just mention ‘THANK YOU’ on this slide. Include ‘QUESTIONS?’ If you want. THANK YOU Questions?
