Presentation Information Page – Mediware Rehabilitation and Respiratory Care Annual Conference Paper Submission: January 18, 2014 Notification of Acceptance: March 1, 2014 Presentation/Slides Due: May 2, 2014 Annual Meeting: June 9-12, 2014 PAPER PRESENTATION Each paper is allotted 20 minutes for presentation and discussion Paper sessions are limited to five presentations per session A digital projector will be provided in each meeting room If you require other types of audio/visual equipment, please contact our conference coordinator. INTERACTIVE PRESENTATION The format of the Interactive Panel Presentation (IPP) Session allows for ten to fourteen 5-minute paper presentations involving a maximum of 10 PowerPoint slides per presentation summarizing research or research in progress in a specific topic, followed by a 30- to 45-minute interactive roundtable discussion among presenters and the audience. This type of session has become popular at other meetings as it provides the audience with rapid and intensive overview of research and also allows for more in-depth discussion among presenters and with the audience. 5-minute presentation 5-10 presentations per session Digital projector and computer with PowerPoint software is provided To facilitate the smooth transfer from one presentation to the next, IPP Sessions include a computer and a digital projector. There will be no overhead projector or slide projector available in IPP sessions. POSTER PRESENTATION Use the poster format for your presentation when your material can easily be communicated visually. Each presentation should make a unified, coherent statement. Materials, both textual and visual, should be of professional quality and be clearly legible from a distance of four feet (4'). Graphic materials should be displayed on a 4' x 8' poster board. Text should be limited to brief statements. Presentations consisting mostly of text are most appropriate as paper presentations. Posters are exhibited for informal browsing with opportunities for individual discussion with poster authors AV consists of 4' x 8' poster boards only ABSTRACT INFORMATION Submissions should follow the abstract format on page 3. Abstracts that do not conform to these requirements will be rejected without review. Submission will be electronic. The only accepted format for submitted papers is Adobe PDF. The abstract must be submitted no later than 5 p.m. US Eastern time January 18, 2014 (10 p.m. GMT January 18, 2014). Abstracts submitted after that time will not be reviewed.

  2. Questions regarding the submission procedure should be directed to the Conference Coordinator, Michelle Caldwell, by emailing Michelle.Caldwell@mediware.com. REQUIREMENTS Abstracts should describe original work; they should emphasize completed work rather than intended work, and should indicate clearly the state of completion of the reported results. Wherever appropriate, concrete evaluation results should be included. Submissions will be judged on correctness, originality, technical strength, significance and relevance to the conference, and interest to the attendees. An abstract accepted for presentation at the Mediware Rehabilitation and Respiratory Annual Conference may have been presented at other meetings or proceedings. Papers that have been submitted to other conferences or workshops must indicate this on the title page, as must papers that contain significant overlap with previous works. Anyone interested in the advancement of post-acute care rehabilitation or respiratory care may participate in the annual conference. You are eligible to give a presentation or participate in other capacities in the program provided you are registered for the meeting. You do not need to be a MediLinks user to register. REVIEW PROCESS The reviewing of the abstracts will be blind. Reviewing will be managed by the Conference Program Committee consisting of Co-Chairs and associated Program Committee Members. Final decisions on the technical program will be made by a meeting of the Program Co-Chairs and Committee Members. Each abstract submission will be reviewed by at least three program committee members. MENTORING SERVICES Mediware is providing a mentoring (coaching) service for presenters who require assistance in writing abstracts. A set of potential mentors will be identified by Bob Habasevich, who has agreed to organize this service for Mediware.
