Proj ect Over View

• The proj ect involves Broward County Transit bus

stop infrastructure construction on urban arterials.

• Broward County has 4,570 bus stops but only

1,100 bus shelters – or one out of four. And only 1,400 bus stops have benches. Proj ect needed to make it more comfortable and increase ridership.

Potential Issues

• Abiding by the many different City requirements for the many

different designs.

• In Plantation, they’ re brick and homey. In Weston, they’ re green and
• modern. In Lauderdale Lakes, they sport wide columns and a

Mediterranean-style roof. In Fort Lauderdale they are S ilver and white in in North Lauderdale… etc.

• S

helter examples include:

• S

helters may include solar panels, LED lighting, rear and side perforated windscreens, schedule holder and benches. All staff is IS MA certified.

• Must Meets Buy America and ADA requirements.
• Meet 175 MPH wind loads.
• FDOT Permits (Florida Department of Transportation’s One S

Potential Issues

• S

hop Drawing Review and Approval.

• A completeness check of the submittals will be

performed prior to forwarding to the EOR for review.

• It is extremely important to ensure a quick turnaround

as there may be items that have long lead times.

Potential Issues MOT Lane Closures / Noise Ordinance

• Proposed S

taff are both Certified Advance MOT for checking lane closure and MOT setup.

• S

ingle lane closure may be needed to facilitate concrete pours and shelter installations.

• S

idewalk closures and detours.

• Dropoff conditions and proj ect site safety checks.
• Contractor may need to obtain a special permits from the local

Cites for such things as noise ordinance during specified times of construction.

• Coordination with Home Owner Associations and Business Owners

as to minimize the impacts to the bus ridership and businesses.

Potential Issues Environmental

• The silt fence, inlet protection and outfall protection will be

inspected regularly to avoid any contamination of construction material into the environmental sensitive areas.

• We will monitor field conditions daily and direct the Contractor
• accordingly. Jobsite cleanliness will be a topic of discussion during

the regular progress meetings.

• Environmental Permits( Administration, compliance and closeout )

Public Coordination

• F&J will institute a proactive Public Involvement effort to ensure

all proj ect stakeholders are kept informed of upcoming lane closures and Bus S top reroute.

• This is extremely important as there are maj or potential impacts

to important stake holders such as business owners, property managers, homeowner associations and schools.

Technologies used to perform the service

• F&J has implemented the use of WhatsApp for real time

communication of potential issues and proj ect updates of progress.

• Dropbox for large file transfers.
• Cloud base server for proj ect files.
