A cast iron skillet works wonderfully.
- Medium bowl
- Whisk
- Tongs
- Medium frying pan/skillet
- Stove (1 burner used)
- Knife
SLIDE 2 Preparation: Ingredients
Brioche bread yields the best results
- 2 eggs
- ¼ cup milk/half & half/cream
- Butter
- 3 pieces of bread
- 4 pieces of ham
- 4 pieces of swiss cheese

The cheese should go between the ham and bread.
1: Stack the bread/cheese/ham

2: Slice the crust off

You can do it by hand or by putting a plate on top of it.
3: Compress the sandwich

Try not to make a mess. Discard the eggshells.
4: Crack the eggs into a bowl

May take 3-7 minutes depending on whisk technique.
5: Add the milk and beat the eggs

You are advised to remove the wrapper first.
6: Put the butter into the pan

If using an unusual stove, more heat is better than less.
7: Set stove heat to medium-high

Be sure to get as high up the sides of the pan as you can.
8: Melt the butter, coat the pan

Hold tightly with tongs so it doesn’t fall apart.
9: Dip the sandwich into the egg

You are advised to remove the wrapper first.
10: Fry the sandwich in the pan

Flip every 3-5 minutes until sufficiently browned.
11: Flip sandwich with tongs

Use the tongs to fry all the way around the edges.

Cut diagonally for best results.
