Point Loma (Peninsula) Point Loma is a large longitudinal hill projecting into the Pacific Ocean from the north end
The Peninsula is a highly urbanized community, comprised of a number of relatively distinct residential neighborhoods. Point Loma High School was built in 1925 and is located in the Loma Portal neighborhood. This neighborhood is one of the older areas of the Peninsula and, as such, is characterized by substantial amounts of landscaping, small winding concrete streets and old street lights, many of which are located in the middle of street intersections.
