  2. What is the HB5 Graduation Plan? Foundation Plan: 22 credits Foundation Plan + Endorsement(s): 26 credits Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) • • Business and Industry • Arts and Humanities • Public Service • Multidisciplinary Studies Foundation Plan + Endorsement(s) w/Distinguished Level of Achievement: 26 credits • MUST HAVE EARNED : 4 credits in math which included Algebra II 4 credits in science

The Basics • Beginning in 2014-2015, students entering 9 th grade must select an endorsement plan. • Students can change their endorsement at any time. • Students may opt out of the endorsement plan after their sophomore year and continue on the foundation plan for graduation. • A counselor will work with each student and parent/guardian to create a personal graduation plan, which maps out their sequence of high school courses. • Each student and his/her parent or guardian must meet with a counselor to sign the student’s personal graduation plan.

Multidisciplinary Endorsement Criteria • Advanced Course Focus: 4 advanced courses • • Foundation Subject Focus: Four courses in each of the four foundation subjects English ( must include English IV)  Math  Science ( must include Chemistry or Physics)  Social studies  • AP or Dual Credit Focus: Any 4 AP or Dual Credit courses from English, Math, Science, • Social Studies, Economics, LOTE or Fine Arts

  9. Is Your Student Interested in STEM? Is your child interested in… • science? • technology? • engineering? • math? • building things? If so, the STEM endorsement might be a good fit for your child.

  10. What Careers Could the STEM Endorsement Lead To? High School Diploma: Climate Change Analyst, Electromechanical Engineering Technologist, or Radio Frequency Identification Device Specialist. Certificate: Robotics Technician Associates Degree: City Planning Aide, Nuclear Monitoring Technician, Geospatial Information Scientist and Technologist, or Environmental Science Technician. Bachelor’s Degree: Engineer (mechanical, petroleum, biomedical, chemical, electrical, energy, industrial, Nano systems, nuclear, or robotics), Forensic Science Technician, Marine/Naval Architect, or Meteorologist. Master’s Degree: Natural Science Manager, Archeologist, Geoscientist, Hydrologist or Mathematician. Doctoral Degree: Medical Scientist, Biochemist/Biophysicist or Microbiologist.

STEM Criteria IMPORTANT: Algebra II, Chemistry, and Physics are required • Career and Technical Education (CTE) Focus: 4 or more credits in CTE • At least 2 in same career cluster within the STEM Endorsement • 1 advanced course (3 rd or 4 th course in a pathway) • Computer Science: • 4 or more credits in Computer Science from a predetermined list of • eligible courses Math Focus: • A total of 5 credits in math • Must include Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and 2 additional math courses • for which Algebra II is a prerequisite Science Focus: • A total of 5 credits in science • Must include B iology, Chemistry, Physics and 2 additional science courses •

  14. What Careers Could the Business & Industry Endorsement Lead To? Certificate: Baker, Electrician, Plumber, Chef, Travel Agent, Real Estate Agent, Umpire/Referee, Air Traffic Controller, Aircraft Mechanic, Farm/Ranch Manager or Forest/Conservation Technician. Associates Degree: Construction Supervisor, Civil Drafter, Legal Secretary, Fashion Designer, Interior Designer, Director/Mortician, Avionics Technician, Electromechanical Technician, or Heavy Equipment Mechanic. Bachelor’s Degree: Architect, Surveyor, Editor, Newscaster, Accountant, Budget Analyst, Human Resource, Commercial Pilot, Statistician, Loan Officer, Economist, Advertising Manager or Marketing Manager. Master’s Degree: Animal Scientist, Zoologist/Wildlife Biologist, Librarian or Regulatory Affairs Manager. Doctoral Degree: Business Professor

Associates Degree: Environmental Compliance Inspector, Police Detective, or Legal Technician/Paralegal. Certificate: TV/Camera Operator or Prepress Technician. Associates Degree: Broadcast Technician, Sound Engineering Technician, Photography, Desktop Publisher or Library Technician. Bachelor’s Degree: Radio/TV Announcer, Graphic Designer, Music Director, Multimedia Artist/Animator, Commercial and Industrial Designer, or Technical Writer. Master’s Degree: Curator, Museum Technician and Conservator, Archivist, International Relation Specialist or College/University Faculty Member. Doctoral Degree: Professor, Lawyer or Anthropologist.
