STUDENT PERFORMANCE CATEGORY

  • DWM= District-Wide Measure is the

weighted average of percentage of students “passing” the 4TH GRADE SCIENCE TEST adjusted for the allowable safety nets for students with disabilities to the extent allowable by SED regulations.

slide-14
SLIDE 14

Student Performance Category

  • Teachers with courses ending in a

Regents exam, or a Grade 8 State Science assessment, will have a measure based on their individual students’ results - depending upon their teaching schedules/ class rosters on BEDS day. This may include a combination of Regents exams, and DWM.

slide-15
SLIDE 15

Student Performance Category

  • If your course ends in a State test for

which there is a State-provided growth model and at least 50 percent of your students are covered under the State- provided growth measure, you will have a State-provided growth score

slide-16
SLIDE 16

Student Performance Category

  • A teacher whose course does not end in a

State created or administered test OR where less than 50% of the teacher’s students are covered by the State provided growth measure shall receive the District-wide Measure = the weighted average of the district-wide scores on 4TH GRADE SCIENCE adjusted for students with disabilities to the extent allowable by SED regulations.

Student Performance Category

  • For a State Provided Growth Score only, a

student must meet the minimum enrollment duration rule of 60 percent in order to be included in the teacher’s growth score

– For example, a student who was enrolled with the teacher for 80 percent of a course and attended 90 percent of the time he/she was enrolled would be weighted 0.8 X 0.9 or 0.72. – Attendance is important

Continuing Teacher and Leader Education – (CTLE)

  • Who must register?

– Permanently or Professionally certified teachers – Educational Leaders – Level III Teaching Assistants

Department’s TEACH system

http://www.highered.nysed.gov/tcert/teach/

slide-26
SLIDE 26

Continuing Teacher and Leader Education Requirements

  • You may register now before your birthday
  • You will have to re-register every five (5)

years during your birthday month

  • Must complete 100 hours of CTLE during

each 5 year registration period

slide-27
SLIDE 27

100 HOUR CONTINUING TEACHER AND LEADER EDUCATION (CTLE) REQUIREMENT

  • TESOL Teachers or bilingual extension -

a min. 50% of required CTLE hours in language acquisition aligned with the core content area of instruction taught, including a focus on best practices for co-teaching strategies,

slide-28
SLIDE 28

100 HOUR CONTINUING TEACHER AND LEADER EDUCATION (CTLE) REQUIREMENT

  • All other certificate holders-minimum

15% of required CTLE hours shall be dedicated to language acquisition addressing the needs of ELLs, including a focus on best practices for co- teaching strategies, and integrating language and content instruction for such ELL

slide-29
SLIDE 29

What if……

…you hold a permanent certification- you do not need to complete 100 CTLE hours. However, if you have multiple certifications and one of them is a professional certification then you must complete 100 hours, even if you are not working under that certification. …you have multiple professional certificates- the 100 CTLE hours that you complete during the five year registration period will be sufficient to fulfill the requirement for all of your professional certificates.

slide-30
SLIDE 30

ACCEPTABLE CTLE COURSES AND ACTIVITIES

  • Acceptable CTLE must be taken through a sponsor approved by

State Ed.

  • It is imperative that you check in advance with the content

provider in order to ensure that they are an approved sponsor and that the activity/course being offered is eligible for CTLE credit.

  • Courses earning credit for the ELL’s requirement are marked as

such

  • For credit-bearing university or college courses, each semester-

hour of credit equals 15 clock hours of CTLE credit

  • For all other Continuing Ed courses, one CTLE credit hour = 60

minutes of instruction/education

slide-31
SLIDE 31
  • The certificate holder shall maintain a record of completed CTLE, which shall

include:

  • the title of the program
  • the total number of hours completed
  • the number of hours completed in language acquisition addressing the

need of English language learners

  • the sponsor's name and any identifying number
  • attendance verification
  • the date and location of the program
