Overview Path to Greatness follows a positive behavioral approach to learning by establishing behavioral supports and a social culture needed for all students at Michael A. Maroun Elementary School to achieve social, emotional and academic success. It is a school-wide system of support that includes proactive strategies for defining, teaching, and supporting appropriate student behaviors with the goal

f creating a positive school environment. Path to Greatness is implemented in all areas of the school including the classroom and

non-classroom settings (such as hallways, buses, and cafeteria). Attention is focused on creating and sustaining primary (school-wide), secondary (classroom), and tertiary (individual) systems of support that improve all aspects of a student's life. Implementation Positive Behavior Committee (Formerly Discipline and Character Education Committee)

Committee will meet monthly to discuss behavior and character education needs of building
Committee will implement, monitor and review code of conduct, discipline needs and Path to Greatness program

Core values will be embedded within the Firebird Word of the Month (former character education monthly attributes)

Path to Greatness Primary Level Supports

Assemblies

3 building wide assemblies per year (September (19th), January, June)
Separate assemblies for K-2 and 3/4
All assemblies will carry Path to Greatness message and reinforce core values

Path to Greatness Bulletin Board and scrolling TV screen

Throughout the year students will be recognized for following PTG core values

○ Monthly Firebird Word of the month winners ○ PTG ticket winners ○ Various contest winners All announcements carry theme of Path to Greatness

Announcements will include:

○ Common language: “We are Phoenix Firebirds and we soar on the PTG” ○ Examples of PTG core values ○ Acknowledging various student accomplishments Building wide contest for Path to Greatness Pledge (details to follow)

Path to Greatness Secondary Level Supports

Monthly Monday Morning Meetings-

Every first Monday of the month- Classroom teacher introduces the Firebird Word of the Month though provided lesson plan.
Reminder of monthly meeting will be given over announcements
Video or activity with lesson plan (structured questions)-15/20 minutes
Class completes morning meeting worksheet together and submits to Positive Behavior Committee dropbox
Every following Monday-quick reminder about Firebird Word of the Month and previous lesson

Firebird Word of the Month Winners

Every classroom teacher nominates 1 Path to Greatness winner from each class that best represents that months Firebird Word
f the Month-submit to Stacie at last week of the month’s collaboration meeting
Winners will receive and wear Path to Greatness button
Winners names will be placed on the path to Greatness bulletin board and student pictures may be displayed on scrolling TV

screen Monthly Classroom Community Writing Piece (optional)

Classroom may post outside classroom or on door-writing assignment about how their class has shown Firebird Word of the

Month and how they are soaring on the Path to Greatness

Classroom winner every month will win a class prize
Pictures and/or name of classroom winners may scroll across TV screen

Path to Greatness Tertiary Level Supports

Individual Ticket Winners

Every Friday Tickets will be pulled for Individual winners from each grade level.
Winners announced during Friday announcements
Tickets have been modified to incorporate Firebird and include how student earned ticket.
