Most athletes will be able to participate even
if injured at some level. (conditioning, etc)
They should have a note/pass from ATR They may have restrictions (i.e. 50%, 75% of
practice)

A concussions is an injury to the brain Concussions can be life threatening Signs & Symptoms include: Headache,
confusion, dizziness, change in personality, difficulty sleeping, difficulty concentrating, loss of appetite, loss of memory, and others.
**Treatment is rest and hydration** **Brain is a thinking organ**
What Is ImPACT?

Why Are We Using It?
– It is a tool that can help us identify if the brain has recovered to a point that the athlete is safe to begin a progressive return to sport.

Emergency Action Plan’s EAP
EAP’s for specific teams, may have
two (practice/game fields) – Know your entrance
Lightning-Flash to bang, horns Head, Neck, Spine Injuries AED Emergencies Concussion Return to play Heat- Care and Fluid Replacement

Forms Coaches EAP- You must fill in!!
– Keep in your binder and/or kit – On file with John Shepard
Physical form (with Cheat Sheet)
– Check for accuracy before handing in – Write your sport on the top** – Hand in in sealed envelope in my mailbox

Paper Work Requirements (Athletes)

Paper Work Requirements (Coaches)
Coaches Concussion Form- You must
sign and collect them from you whole coaching staff.
Emergency Action Plan (EAP)- you fill
in using sheet in you EAP binder, using your personnel. Hand in copy to John
- Shepard. ** Make sure your staff
know and practice the plan.
