SLIDE 34
- Single point of failure at master site ➔ Not robust enough
- Difficult to find a master site where it can see all CPE LOS ➔ Difficult radio planning
- Hidden node issue (CPE cannot see each other) ➔ High throughput drop & radio failure
- Support only 2 to 3 CPE bridges practically ➔ Not scalable
- Uplink synchronization and co-channel interference issues ➔ High packet lost, high latency and low throughput
Typical PTMP network in the market
Limitations in Today’s PTMP Deployments

- หลักการติดตั้ง - แนวส่งสัญญาณจะต้อง LOS
SLIDE 36
- NO single point of failure ➔ Support auto-recovery intrinsically
- SIMPLE deployment ➔ Simply bypass obstacles, requires no technical expertise in radio planning
- NO hidden node issue (each node can see the neighbor node) ➔ High throughput
- NO uplink retrial issue, robust mesh link ➔ Support over 20 nodes

Wireless Security
SLIDE 51 Drawbacks in IEEE 802.11s Standards-based Mesh
- The security model commonly used by wireless backhauling
equipment in the market, based on IEEE 802.11s mesh standards, has two prominent drawbacks:
- It uses plaintext mesh ID that malicious entity can retrieve for attack
- It uses pre-shared key for authentication that previous user may know
and malicious party can hack easily
SLIDE 52 P2’s Proprietary Wireless Security Architecture
- Enhanced 3-factor authentication mechanism
- Using a mesh ID, a mesh key and a static key to generate the “real” connection keys necessary for the mesh link
setup
- The static key is unknown to the user and not easily exposed
- 2-tier irreversible key generation algorithm
- Instead of directly using user-defined keys, a 2-tier hash mechanism is used
- Impossible to deduce the original encryption keys
- Unique per-link packet encryption
- Based on proven 128-bit AES encryption
- Further dividing the encryption key into two parts, consisting a 32-byte mesh ID and a 16-byte mesh key, to
make the encryption more robust
- MAC-based access control
- Blocks unpermitted connection even if all the connection details above were obtained but the connecting device
is not in the MAC access list
