  9. Training Sessions - Tue & Thu evenings have been coach led on a rota basis and well attended with 20-30 plus athletes. The introduction of regular hill sessions every other Thu has been a welcome addition also attracting steady numbers. - Sat & Sun long runs although not formally coach led, have been posted by Martin & Jackie. - Other long run sessions have been user-led, which gives flexibility on distance and pacing. - Mon, Wed & Sat sessions complement training and give options, for running, cross training and S&C with Lynne. - The sessions are posted with as much info as possible so that athletes come prepared and ready to train with their target paces and knowing what they need to do. - The various venues used since October have worked, especially the Ormeau Embankment and Connswater Greenway. - Using MPT once or twice a month has suited the majority of members and will continue next year depending on future training plans and sessions. - The intensity of training sessions has been increased and everyone has worked hard and committed to them. - There has been more emphasis on proper rest and recovery to ensure people don’t burn out or pick up injuries. - We are encouraging smart training, race targeting and specific goals to work to.

  10. Training Plans 2018 ➢ The monthly plans have been produced to required timeframes and the format updated. ➢ These mostly focussed on the Club Championship with other plans being released when required. ➢ Concentrating on a 7 week specific Seeley plan has kept everyone focussed with a clear target. ➢ There will be an update on how future plans will look in the New Year to cover our 2019 target/club championship races and the coaches will work with the captains on these. ➢ London & Belfast marathon plans are being considered and will start in early 2019 for 16-18 weeks. These will tie in nicely with the injury prevention and nutrition workshop on 19 Jan. ➢ Half marathon plans will also be produced, depending on need and the club’s target HM race for 2019. ➢ Plans will be holistic and also cover S&C, cross training, rest & recovery etc. ➢ The intensity of sessions will continue to be increased, but they will be fit for purpose with easier weeks included to take us through the winter months and into the spring racing campaigns.

  11. Special Highlights ➢ Lots of great training performances in 2018 with various PBs, podiums and age cat prizes across various distances. Fantastic results in the 24hr race and marathons around the world throughout the year including two sub 3hrs from Andrew McIntyre & Michael Broadhead. A very special mention goes out to the Orangegrove London marathon runners ➢ They trained together throughout the really long hard winter months in rain, wind and even snow and nothing deterred them. ➢ They committed to their plans and followed through to the end. ➢ They were a great example of training in a specific target group. ➢ I had the privilege to be there that weekend to support and help calm nerves. ➢ Watching at the 25 mile mark I witnessed the really tough heat wave conditions. ➢ There were a lot of DNFs, but our guys showed guts and determination, they all finished and some even had decent races. ➢ They left nothing on the course! Well done Pauline Bayliss; Lyndsey Tyro; Julie McKimm; Stephen Anderson; Gillian Logan; Edwina Ternan & Colin Simpson.
