Acute Care Hospitalist

  • Manage inpatient units at general acute care hospitals or

psychiatric hospitals.

  • Provide psych consultation services to Med/Surg patients.
  • Coverage of Emergency Department.
  • On-site during daytime and call coverage at night (could also use

telepsych coverage for nights).

  • Staffed by physicians.
  • Requires professional services contract with facility and financial

support stipend.

Post- Acute Coverage

  • Provide psych consults for post-acute patient at SNF, Transitional

Care and Assisted Living facilities.

  • Primarily staffed with psych ARNP’s with physician oversight.
  • Professional services contract with facility is not required and

there is no financial support stipend for basic services.
