  • NVSC is a 501c3 non profit organization with the mission of providing opportunities for youth

soccer players to develop to their fullest extent and capability.

  • NVSC operates four different primary field locations, hosting over 5500 recreational and 525 travel

players per year.

NVSC Travel Program

  • NVSC’s principal travel league is the Club Champions League (CCL)
  • Pro23
  • Premiership Division
  • Championship Division
  • NextGen U9-U10
  • In addition, NVSC teams play in the National Capital Soccer League (NCSL), as available.
  • College Preparation Program - a series of sessions designed to share expert knowledge of the recruiting

process and on successful ways to prepare for college soccer.

  • Winter Training
  • NVSC winter focus is training and preparations for spring travel soccer.
  • Summer play is via participation in the USL Super-Y League
  • Not mandatory, but highly encouraged
  • Season runs from June – July; Finals in December in Florida

Club Champions League Overview

  • CCL is a club centric league, with top level competition from major soccer programs within

Virginia, DC, and Maryland.

  • Includes Arlington, Alexandria, Loudoun, SYA, SOCA, DCST, Williamsburg Legacy,

Potomac, Herndon, Rush, Virginia Blue Ridge, FC Frederick, Fredericksburg FC, Lee Mt Vernon, FC Richmond

  • Promotes interaction and resource sharing between clubs.
  • Fosters player development with promoting younger age group friendlies and College

Showcases and ID Camps for older age groups.

  • Offers four competitive divisions, from NextGen through Pro-23, to accommodate our

players starting in club soccer and with a place to play in the summer between college sessions.

  • Progressive organization continually working to develop affiliations with other leagues

and organizations; as well as fostering relationships with businesses for revenue and funding opportunities.

College Preparation Program

  • The NVSC College Program consists of two formal sessions, one in the Fall and one in the Spring.
  • In addition, the NVSC Staff coaches mentor players throughout the recruiting process.
  • Fall:
  • 8th – 12th graders to attend to provide an overview of recruiting process.
  • Topics included:
  • Setting Priorities and Goals
  • Being Organized
  • Recruiting Process
  • College Programs and Scholarships
  • Roles and Responsibilities
  • Current and past players attend to provide insight on their experience.
  • Spring:
  • College Coaches are invited to provide a Question and Answer forum for players and parents.
  • This past year, four local college coaches were in attendance to participate.

Super Y Program

9

  • North American Youth League with teams from the United States and

Canada

  • This league is for players to train and play competitive games throughout

the summer months.

  • Super Y Player Identification for National Competition at the USL

Experience.

  • NVSC has teams in ages groups from U10 – U17 boys and girls. Tryouts

take place each January with additional players added throughout the spring if needed.

  • Each year NVSC has had teams advance to the North American Finals at the

IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.

This past year, NVSC had three (3) teams advance to the North American Finals; with two (2) players selected to participate in the USL Experience.

NVSC Tryouts / Selection Process

  • Tryouts will be held in May and June, depending on age (see schedule on slide 16).
  • Two dates per age are provided; players are encouraged to attend both dates to

ensure an adequate tryout.

  • A third tryout date may be scheduled if needed
  • Multiple NVSC coaches will be attending each tryout to evaluate the players.
  • Players will be evaluated on Technical, Speed, and Soccer IQ.
  • All players will receive an email response from the club after the tryouts as to

whether or not he/she was selected for the team.

  • The player needs to respond to accept or decline.
  • If the player accepts, an email will be sent from the club with directions on how to

proceed and be registered.

Tryout Attendee Day-of Information

  • Location: Hellwig Park Turf Fields 7 and 8
  • Register online: Go to www.novasc.org, click on Travel
  • Check-in 30 minutes prior to your first scheduled tryout
  • You do not have to check-in on subsequent tryouts
  • Attire: Attendees should wear a white t-shirt
  • Equipment: Shins guards, water bottle and ball
  • Monitor the NVSC website and Twitter Account (@soccernvsc) for

weather information.
