NPA Skawina operates in the aluminium industry since 1954. The company was as an aluminium smelter first, and later transformed into the only Polish, and Central Europe's leading, manufacturer of aluminium wire rod and power conductors.

NPA Skawina

The company employs about 180 workers.

NPA Skawina is part of the international Grupa Boryszew S.A., a group

History

1954 — Official start-up of the Plant on 20th July. 1980 — Electrolysis shutdown. Aluminium smelter is converted into a metallurgical plant. 2001 — Founding of Nowoczesne Produkty Aluminiowe. 2006 — Starting production of wire rod from a new type of aluminium alloy (Al. 59). Purchase and installation of modern machinery for the production of aluminium strands and wires. 2007 — Starting production of wire rod from a new type of aluminium alloy (AlZr). Continuation of the development of modern machinery and the development of production for niche items. 2012 — Merger of NPA Skawina S.A. and Boryszew S.A. A new company emerges under the name of Boryszew S.A. Oddział Nowoczesne Produkty Aluminiowe Skawina. 2013 — Purchase of equipment for the production of fine wires conductors for the automotive industry.

NPA Skawina range of products

is divided into four groups:

Wire Rod

Aluminium and alloyed wire rod (wire and non-wire, for general purposes).

Conductors

Bare overhead conductors and cable conductors (from aluminium and aluminium alloys).

Wires

Wires for conductor production and general purpose (from aluminium and aluminium alloys), lightning protection wires.

Fine Wires Conductors

for wires for the automotive sector, wind farms, and others.

Rolling Department

  • 2 rolling lines with a total capacity of 40,000 tons of aluminium per year
  • the ability to manufacture wire rods with diameters between 7.6 mm and 19 mm
  • the ability to manufacture heat-treated wire rods (6 modern furnaces)

Strengths

Independence from wire rod supplies

  • The only wire rod manufacturing plant in Poland — batch for the production of wires

and conductors Planning the product from the primary aluminium

  • Development of properties of wire rods and wires at the level of the liquid metal

(primary aluminium), which gives the possibility to achieve above-standard properties of produced conductors Experience 60 years of experience in wire rod production

Production

Conductors Department

  • modern machinery
  • 2 drawing lines producing wire
  • 2 highly efficient multi-platform multilayer twisting lines for overhead

conductors to the maximum cross section of 1,200 mm2

  • 2 lines for twisting conductors up to 240 mm2
  • complete manufacturing machinery for multi-wire aluminium strands and fine

wires conductors

Quality Management System in the company complies with the requirements of ISO 9001:2008, confirmed by the certificate we own issued by Bureau Veritas. NPA Skawina has a specialized laboratory fitted out with equipment to control chemical composition, and fulfil all the standard-required mechanical and electrical properties of our

  • products. The laboratory operates in continuous mode

allowing for rapid control of pre-production, intermediate, and finished goods. All our manufacturing processes are also subject to self-control by regularly trained and specifically delegated employees.
