PROJECT SUMMARY

  • Bridge Concrete Substructure Repairs
  • (including work on Neville Island)
  • Bridge Repainting – All Steel Members
  • Drainage Repairs
  • Bridge Barrier Repairs

Cost and Schedule:

  • Estimated Construction Cost

$60M

  • Anticipated Construction Duration

The let date for the project is 12-12-19. Physical construction is likely to begin with containment erection in March/April 2020. The project should be complete in the fall of 2022. 2021 – Fall 2022

Due to the site constraints of the project location and geometry, as well as most of the work

  • ccurring on limited access ramps to the interstate, bicycle traffic cannot be maintained on

the highway shoulder. A bicycle detour route will be signed using the Sewickley Bridge

  • Project includes 27-span structure over RR Tracks, Ohio River Backchannel, Ohio River Main Channel

and SR 0065 Ohio River Boulevard and the smaller 4-span structure to the north over Kilbuck Street

  • Project Purpose: To maintain safe and reliable travel on this portion of I-79
  • Project Need: Due to the physical deficiencies of the existing bridges causing Fair to Poor Condition

ratings.

Major Construction Activities:

  • Bridge Expansion Dam Replacements
  • Bridge Deck Repairs and Overlays
  • Bridge Structure Steel Repairs
  • Bridge Bearing Replacements
