MY PRESENTATION ON BY BRADLEY SAVAGE

A CHARACTER WHO HAS A POSITIVE AFFECT ON THE AUDIENCE. • A character who I believe leaves a positive impact on Captain America Civil War is Spider man played by Tom Holland in his second appearance in a Marvel movie. Since Spider Man’s solo movie (Spider Man Homecoming) had such a positive response with the audience. The Marvel Franchise decided to bring him into the following Marvel movies, Civil War and Infinity War. In Civil War, Spider Man brought a comedic element to the series, trying to impress Iron Man whist making him seem like a joke to everyone else within the Airport battle scenes. The comedic humour of the Spiderman brought interest into the movie and left the audience with a memory of the movie that they would remember after the movie.

A CHARACTER WHICH HAD A NEGATIVE IMPACT ON THE AUDIENCE • For a character I believe has a negative effect on the audience in Civil War, I would pick Iron Man, not due to him being the antagonist of the film or anything because he is not. However throughout the Marvel franchise of Iron Man films and production as well as the comics we see that Iron Man’s main weakness is his addiction to alcoholism and drinking as well as his own self ego. The sort of lifestyle that we see that this character lives is not a very good look on younger audiences when the actor for Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr) is a very popular role model to many younger audiences, it gives the audience the impression that it is just an act and that the lifestyle he lives is a good one. People may also be upset in terms of seeing heroes fighting each other.

1 ST CHARACTER REPRESENTATION • For the first character that is represented in Captain America Civil War, of course we have to talk about the man in the Title. Captain America is represented by actor Chris Evans who played Captain America in all other movies as well as the future movies of Infinity War and end game. Being a symbolic meaning of an American and showing his patriotic colours though his outfit, the captain is very confident in himself being very educated and very strong even superhuman for a human without any special condition unlike others in the Avengers such as Thor and Hulk. Throughout the film Captain America is trying to help Bucky or Winter Soldier as well as stand up to Iron Man in his idea to leave the city alone which he disagrees with

2 ND CHARACTER REPRESENTATION • The second character that I will be talking about is a character we don ’ t actually get to know much until nearer the end of the movie, we see a flashback at the beginning but not much information about it. This character is called Helmut Zemo, the antagonist of the Avengers and the most difficult villain they have ever faced, without really facing him. Zemo is fascinating since his motivation unlike others such as Thanos or Rowan is not looking to take over the world but it is a revenge mission and once he completes it he is done and will be the end for him. The character is very strange because unlike other villains to try to talk as loud and angry as possible he talks softer and quieter which makes him seem more menacing then all the other villains.

3 RD CHARACTER REPRESENTATION • For my 3 rd character representation I will be talking about the very popular appearance of Black Panther played by Chadwick Boseman in his very first Marvel movie and would continue to appear in his own movie Black Panther as well as Infinity War. The richest superhero in the franchise, black panther is the king and protector of Wakanda. He is shown in civil war on the side of Iron Man in how ”the enemy of my enemy is my friend” since he has issues with Winter Soldier otherwise known as Bucky and Captain Americas ex war friend. The panther represents valor, honor and courage along with power and an idea that he has to protect his people no matter what.

WHO ARE THE BBFC? • The BBFC also known as the British Board of Film Classification are an organization which is not controlled by the government, to give films the appropriate age certificate for a product. Founded in 1912, it is there responsibility to give a film the correct age rating based on attributes that are in the film such as language and violence. These range from U, PG ,12A and 12, 15, 18 and R18 these ratings help the company decide which certificate a movie deserves based on violence, language and other activities that the audience may be offended by. Movies are legally abridged to own a BBFC certificate rating since without a rating it may offend audiences and would not direct to the audience what demographic and age range this movie is for.

BBFC CERTIFICATE RATING AND WHY The rating for Captain America: Civil War is is 12A which mean that the movie is for ages 12 and over. The movie contains mild violence in which action scenes are involved such as the final scene and the airport scene. I think that the movie is also not higher since the movie has superheroes which have comedic elements such as Spiderman who makes jokes to other characters. which means that is rated for ages 12 and over. It was given this BBFC rating since the movie contains mild violence since there is a lot of action scenes such as the airport scene which evolves fighting which may not be suitable for younger audiences. It could also have been given this rating since the owners of Marvel are Disney and Disney's target audience is younger generations. The genre of the movie is being an action fantasy which is designed to induce a younger audiences.

MY OPINION ON THE BBFC RATING • My opinion on what the BBFC have rated the movie as a 12A is right since it only contains mild violence with not much swearing or offensive language but if so is covered in a joking way so it is suitable for the younger generation, it also contains comedic elements made by the characters to appeal to the audience. However sometime within the joke the writer make it a innuendo so that the secondary audience of the parents or older audiences also laugh at the joke and make it more attracting for an older audience also. If there is a death within the movie, the camera cuts away to someone's reaction instead of showing the death and includes not much blood and no gore at all.
