Pre departure & Upon Arrival

  • A Student Visa is necessary for studies in Australia
  • I arrived four days before orientation week, which was two week before school start
  • I found housing via Uni by a housing agency which is very common.
  • Shared housing is most common, often in big houses
  • My Uni had very organized orientation weeks, with a lot of events

Life Down Under – Australia

  • Australia is like an exotic laid back friendly Scandinavian country
  • People are as laid back as you may think
  • The weather is as good as you can imagine
  • Prepare for amazing and scary animals
  • The prices are very similar to Sweden

Things to consider at University

  • I started in July and finished in November
  • Uni were like KTH, but all classes were recorded online
  • Attendance was not mandatory
  • The tempo was similar to KTH, a bit slower
  • You can pass courses before the exam

  • Visa is not required, but you need to attain a fiscal code
  • I arrived two days before orientation week, which was two week before school start
  • I found housing via Facebook which is very common, Airbnb is also common.
  • Shared housing is most common, often in big apartments
  • My Uni and ESN had some fun events and gatherings

The inventor of Gluten – Italy

  • People are as Italian as you may think
  • I did experience a cultural clash
  • The things you take for granted in Sweden…
  • Coffee, Vine, Pizza and Pasta, prepare for some weight gain
  • It will get very hot in the Summer
  • Prices are lower than in Sweden

Things to consider at University

  • Uni started in the beginning of March and finished in the beginning of June
  • Uni differed from KTH, 3-hour lectures, assignments and exams were different too
  • The tempo at Uni and in life is slower
  • Consider formal greetings at Uni “Dear Mr. Professor Da Vinci”
  • All exams are at the end of the semester

 The Alps  Lake Como & Cinque Terre, Wine district of Piemonte The French & Italian Riviera, Rome, Florence, Milano, Verona  Do not forget to do the typical Italian stuff, football, Go to museums & Enjoy food  Tips and recommendations
