When teaching a technology class, What are the best strategies to aid students in becoming agents in their own learning where they are using self taught resources to help navigate software (particularly, adobe software). Please answer the following questions to the best of your knowledge and please be honest. Background Information: Background Information:
Age School Status- freshmen, sophomore etc. Major and emphasis Expected graduation date Transfer student? if so, from where Previous higher education? Community college? Learning styles: How do you best learn? The following questions relate to your learning style and how you best learn material/ content and new technologies. They are based off of the VARK learning styles and are used to get a general understanding of how you gather, process, and retain new information and learn new skills. Please complete the first two questions then complete the short survey prior to answer the rest of the questions. http://vark-learn.com/the-vark-questionnaire/ How do you best learn new materials, skills, etc? Why do these methods or styles work best for you? According to the VARK questionnaire results, please list your learning styles from highest number to lowest number. Do you agree with the results? Why or Why not? Why or why not do you believe it might be important to know your learning style and how can you apply it to learning in the classroom? Previous experience related to the course: In Introduction to digital media, various adobe programs were used to create projects, the following questions relate to your personal experience with these programs and related technology.
Kinesthetic (K):
“By definition, this modality refers to the “perceptual preference related to the use
invoke other modalities, the key is that people who prefer this mode are connected to reality, “either through concrete personal experiences, examples, practice or simulation” [See Fleming & Mills, 1992, pp. 140-141]. It includes demonstrations, simulations, videos and movies of “real” things, as well as case studies, practice and
grasped, held, tasted, or felt it will probably be included. People with this as a strong preference learn from the experience of doing something and they value their own background of experiences and less so, the experiences of others. It is possible to write or speak Kinesthetically if the topic is strongly based in reality. An assignment that requires the details of who will do what and when, is suited to those with this preference, as is a case study or a working example of what is intended or proposed.”

Question
Which unit exercise did you believe best prepared you for the final project where you felt confident in the skills that you learned that could then be applied to the final project? Why? Question What do you think the following statement means? I took charge of my own learning. Answers Stop motion- or illustrator -creating logo Stop motion- the process of taking pictures of movement- The GIF the process and end product that was produced. Answers Premiere, shooting one shot in different angles., once I got an introduction to the program, I was like, ok, I was definitely prepared to use the program for the final project. Answers It means that one took the steps to go above and beyond and self-teach the material instead of doing the bare minimum and just doing what was taught in class. I think that the exercise that I like the most was the Animation one. It gave me the idea for what I wanted for my final. Raster's practice gives me confidence in the final project, because through practice I can basically determine the way my final project looks. Responsible for my own learning means that I have a goal and plan for myself and will do it seriously. Gif exercise- I didn’t know how to do that, it was nice to come back around to photoshop. There was a good tutorial on blackboard for it. Step by step instructions were helpful along with the link. Building shapes with illustrator helped me get more into the program I took advantage of my own knowledge- I stood up for what I what wanted to know. My favorite exercise was the mini animation project because it gave me some good ideas for my final project and it was a lot of fun Photoshop- Selfie exercise. It was fun to experiment for the first time. It allows you to be yourself. Allowing to express yourself a little bit more freely. Like expressing yourself- expressing yourself is very important. Making art , personality comes out. (shows how different people
I think that it means that, you were responsible for learning different attributes in on your own and experimenting different items. GIF practice is my favorite because this exercise is very interesting I think that the video exercise helped me remember some skills I had in premiere. I think it means, I am having an issue learning something, I don’t always have to rely on the professor, …. It’s more independent focus. I think it helps to make me more independent and more self sufficient, because when I graduate and go to the workforce…. I enjoyed the stop motion exercises mostly because they were fun. Again, the mini animation exercise helped me to feel the most prepared for the final project because it helped me to understand exactly how to shoot my project and make it pretty seamless I think it means you went the extra step to make sure you knew what you were doing to help you reach an end goal successfully Sound walk exercise gathering sounds- liked it because I got out of the classroom. Liked being in a group of people getting to talk and work with them. Gif exercise for the same reason, coming back to photoshop. Gif exercise- I didn’t know how to do that, it was nice to come back around to photoshop. There was a good tutorial on blackboard for it. Step by step instructions were helpful along with the link. That just means your still doing the work for the class but you found a way that wasn’t taught and you were able to come out with the outcomes, you we able to meet the criteria of the class.

Was there any moment during the class where you really felt like you were in control of your own learning? Can you explain or give a specific example? “The more involved I got into assignments, I realized that’s what I wanted to learn. I want to direct my learning and learn multiple things. During the illustrator project I used the content folder but I also was experimenting more and I felt I had control over designing and creating what I wanted to make.”
