* Title I Schools receive extra funding through the
federal government.
* The Purpose of Title I is:
- To ensure children have fair, equal, and significant
- pportunity to obtain high – quality education; and
- Reach, at a minimum, a Level 3 on FCAT (Reading,
Writing, Math and Science).

Parent Involvement Plan – describes what the school will do to involve parents. District Parent Involvement Plan – describes what the district will do to support the school in its effort to involve parents. Parent input on both plans is requested each year.

* If your child is sick please keep him/her at home or take him/her to the doctor. Please notify the school within 48hrs. * No medication may be carried by the student without the school nurse clearance. * The student who is sent home from school with a temperature of 100 F cannot return to school until fever free for 24 hours. * Head lice – Do not send your child to school until the problem is resolved

SLIDE 17 * FCAT=Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test. * The FCAT 2.0 is a series of tests given to every Florida public school student, between the grades of 3* and 10. * The purpose of the FCAT is to assess student achievement of the Next Generation Sunshine State benchmarks in math, reading, writing and science.
- Scores: Level 5 indicates that the student masters the
most challenging content.
- Level 4 shows performance above grade level.
- Level 3 indicates satisfactory level of success.
- Level 2 shows below satisfactory level of success.

* CELLA=Comprehensive English Language Learning
Assessment.
* The CELLA is a test for Florida students classified as
English Language Learners (ELLs).
* The CELLA measures ELLs’ progress in listening,
speaking, reading, and writing English language skills.
* ELLs take the CELLA annually until they are classified as
English proficient. The teacher uses this information to decide when the student is ready to exit out of the ESOL program.

Some of the ways that Parents can help their kids succeed at school are: * Sending them to school everyday * Setting an early bedtime everyday * Designating a place to do homework * Making sure homework is completed daily * Encourage them to read * Providing nutritious meals everyday * Paying attention to school’s communications sent home (check backpacks everyday) * Complete the surveys/forms sent home by the school * Attend school events and meetings for parents, read the school newsletter, visit the school & district’s website.
