  4. Major Planning Applications 2014 • Weir at Upper Mill House • Building of a 6 bedroom, three-storey house at Langley • Building at Abbotts Mead 15/00180/FULLN • Willow Glen Planning Application 14/02358/FULLN

  5. MPC Planning Matters (1) • No new major planning applications received since January 21/1/15 • Update on the Alpine Group at Manor Farm • The agreement with the Keir Group, to build a factory on land at Walworth estate has hit issues, however there is a Plan B which is to work with a local developer to put in an Outline line to TVBC and get agreement for approx 10 houses to pay for the move to Walworth • Issues with lorries going to dump rubble at Fox’s Wood, Georgia Lane • TVBC update • Strategy is to ensure the volume of material does not exceed the permitted development • Surveyor was interviewed week of 20/4/15 and appointed on the 7 th May • Access to the site is being obtained by TVBC from Nelsons for a date in June for the Surveyor and an Enforcement Officer to view the site and take measurements • A Court Order will be issued to access the site if required if Nelsons refuse to cooperate

  6. MPC Planning Matters (2) • Issues with lorries going to dump rubble at Fox’s Wood, Georgia Lane • Environment Agency Update • Following the village meetings at Monxton and Quarley, over 70 objections were received by the EA • Queries regarding the Permit were issued by the EA – no response from the applicant Nelsons by deadline date • Permit has been refused on 1/5/15 • Next steps are being considered to stop the activity • Weekly Progress calls with EA

  26. Monxton Website & Newsletter • Newsletter now going to 229 email recipients across the 4 parishes. • Email addresses held for 79% of Monxton households • Website updated at least weekly and often 2-3 times a week with posts on news, events etc

Village Hall • Plans for makeover being discussed • Application for grants being applied for • Free LED bulbs have been donated by LEDhut • Negotiated a 20% discount for Monxton residents for LED bulbs via LEDhut • Hope to make the hall an eco building with ASHP and PV panels • Plan to make village hall more attractive from the outside

Parish Council Activities • Parish Council activities fall into three main categories: • Representing the local community • Delivering services to meet local needs • Improving quality of life and community well being . • Local councils can provide and maintain a variety of important and visible local services including allotments, bridleways, bus shelters , car parks, commons and open spaces , community transport schemes, community safety and crime reduction measures , events and festivals, footpaths , leisure and sports facilities , litter bins, planning , street cleaning and lighting, tourism activities, traffic calming measures, village greens and youth projects. • Parish councils receive funding by levying a "precept" on the council tax paid by the residents of the parish. Parish councils comprise unpaid councillors who are elected to serve for 4 years.

Representative powers Parish councils must be notified by the district or county council of: ·All planning applications in their areas ·Intention to provide a burial ground in the parish ·Proposals to carry out sewerage works ·Footpath and bridleway (more generally, 'rights of way') surveys ·Intention to make byelaws in relation to hackney carriages music and dancing, promenades, sea shore and street naming
