What: Morenci’s Title V Air Quality Permit requires that reasonable precautions are employed to prevent excessive dust from becoming airborne. Who: All employees and contractors are required help prevent dust from becoming airborne. Where: All areas of the mine, including processing,

  • perating equipment such as; conveyors, dust collectors,

crushers, shovels, unpaved roads, tailings dam, stockpiles, etc.

When: Anytime an activity has the potential to generate airborne dust, or when dust is occurring, please take necessary action(s) to mitigate immediately. How:  Drive to the conditions of the road (15mph when dry/dusty conditions).  Call for water truck when excessive dust is observed.  Contact the control room operator and request water application when you see airborne dust from conveyor belts, transfer points, pollution control equipment, or stockpiles  Manage piles of accumulated dust by contacting the area supervisor to vacuum or remove it.  Call or notify someone in the Environmental Services department.
