  1. MISSION STATEMENT The Arc of Weld County promotes and protects the human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities through advocacy and support services.

  2. WHO WE SERVE We serve children and adults with intellectual & developmental disabilities (I/DD) and their families. If an individual does not meet our criteria we will assist them with finding services that fit their needs.

SERVICE AREAS • Weld County Greeley office: 5312 West 9 th St Dr, suite @150, Greeley, CO 80634 Office hours: Monday-Friday 8:30p.m.-5:00p.m. or by appointment • South Weld County Fort Lupton office: 330 Park Avenue Fort Lupton, CO 80621 Office hours: By appointment only • Northeastern Colorado Counties Sterling office: 120 Main Street Sterling, CO 80751 Office hours: 10am-3pm Monday-Thursday or by appointment

  4. ADVOCACY METHODS • Individual – specific one on one support • Community Organization – large scale community support • Legislative – state/national legislative support

  5. INDIVIDUAL ADVOCACY • Our Advocates: • Serve both children and adults • Attend IEP meetings; work as part of IEP team • Attend adult services meetings • Assist with waiting list placement, eligibility etc. • Resource Referral • Help with systems navigation • Support in “following your dream” Contact Lindy Ruiz at Lindy@arcweldcounty.org or 970-353-5218 x101

  6. COMMUNITY ORGANIZATION ISSUES • Victimization /abuse reporting • Respite • Inclusion in the school • Transportation initiatives to serve rural areas • Adaptive Recreation • Increase parent support (education and networking opportunities)

NORTHERN COLORADO RESPITE COALITION • Objective is to increase respite opportunities for individuals and families in Northern Colorado • Comprised of area community groups and family members • Meets every other month • Next meeting: 8/26/15 @ 3-5PM @ Arc of Weld County • For information contact: Larry McDermott at Larry@arcweldcounty.org; 970-353-5219 x100

  15. ANTI-BULLYING PROJECT • Collaborative effort between the Arc of Weld County, Greeley Evans School District Six and Windsor School District RE-4, funded by Community Foundation serving Greeley and Weld County • Poster Contest to spotlight bullying in the schools • Posters will be displayed at Centennial public Library in Greeley during month of October • Winners will be announced at the end of October and awards will be presented at school board meetings in November • Interested in learning more about this project contact Ashley at ashley@arcweldcounty.org or 970-353-5219 x102
