Emergency Operations Training Facility Phase II Project Description • Most extensive Urban Search and Rescue Facility in the State of Minnesota • Permanent, cost-effective, and safe training opportunities for MN-TF1 as well as other agencies • Structures that are easily configurable will give participants the practice and repetition required to master skills • Central location of our facility makes it a cost effective training solution for many agencies 2

  3. What is Technical Rescue Training? A technical rescue is required when an emergency situation requires training and expertise beyond the scope of normal firefighting and emergency medical training. The National Fire Protection Association NFPA has seven categories of technical rescue: • Structural Collapse Rescue • Water Rescue (ice, swift water, • Rope Rescue and dive) • Confined Space Rescue • Wilderness Search and Rescue • Vehicle and Machinery Rescue • Trench Rescue 3

  8. What are we building? There are four main components needed to complete the Urban Search and Rescue Training Facility: Structured rubble pile with confined space • Wracked building and technical rescue tower • Heavy lifting structure • Trench rescue structure •

  10. Who will use this training facility? Minnesota Task Force 1 (MN-TF1) is an urban search and rescue (USAR) team. MN-TF1 is a State of Minnesota resource developed to assist with emergencies involving natural or manmade disasters that require highly skilled search and rescue personnel in a collapse or specialized rescue environment. http://www.fox9.com/news/minnesota-task-force-1- simulates-building-collapse-for-disaster-response- training
