Early Years & Key Stage 1 (Years 1 & 2)
- White polo shirts
- Red sweatshirts/pullovers, fleeces or cardigans

PE Kit
At Lawford Mead, PE Kit consists of:
- White t-shirt
- Black shorts
- Trainers
- (Plain tracksuits in the colder months).
We do not recommend plimsolls for PE as they do not provide enough support for the range of physical activities children participate in. For Muddy Adventures, children must wear long sleeve tops that completely cover the arms, trousers that cover the whole leg, and wellington boots or ankle- high walking boots.
PE PE
Your child’s PE lessons will be on Tuesday afternoon (Bonsai) and Friday afternoon (Birch) – subject to change half termly. If your child does a club, please can they have a separate change of clothes so PE kits stay in school. All children MUST have a water bottle, especially on PE days.

Phonics
Phonics is re-visited in Year 2 to continue to support your child’s reading and spelling. This works alongside taught spelling patterns. Your can support your children by encouraging them to blend (sound out) words they are unsure of when reading and getting them to segment (break) up words to help them spell.

Homework club
- Thursday lunchtime 12:40-1:00/1:10
- 3 children per class will be invited each week by their class teacher.
This could be different children each week.
- The class teacher who is running the club that week will go and
collect the children from the playground at 12:40 and take them back to their classroom/the playground.
- This club is not a punishment for those children who are attending. It
is being offered as additional support so children can hand their homework in when everyone else does.
