How is Oxygen Supplied?

Depending on the size and needs of the HCF , Oxygen can typically be supplied in one of two ways :  An Oxygen Supply Company  An Oxygen Concentrator (OC) System

Gas Supply Companies

Oxygen can be delivered by:

High Pressure Cylinder Gas (smaller size HCF’s) Liquid Storage Tanks (larger size HCF’s)

The Oxygen Concentrator System uses the same Oxygen Gas distribution system that a Gas Supply Company uses. The only thing that changes is the source of supply. Gas Supply Company Oxygen Concentrator System Distribution Panel Oxygen to HCF’s Distribution Network

Gas Supply Companies Typically Charge

 Rental of the Storage Equipment (either HP cylinders or Bulk storage tanks)  Delivery charge for supplying either HP Oxygen cylinders or Liquid Oxygen in bulk storage (fuel and environmental surcharges may apply)  Per cubic meter of Oxygen delivered

Cost Savings

Having an HCF produce it’s own Oxygen onsite is a SAFE, RELIABLE and ECONOMICAL, alternative that provides the HCF with substantial annual cost savings.

Advantages of VPSA Technology

  • Fast 3 min. start-up and cycle times,

which reduces overall power consumption

  • Higher output pressure – 85 psi
  • Long life, low maintenance
  • Small footprint allows for duplexing or

tri-plexing

  • Vacuum during the desorb cycle

completely clears the sieve of nitrogen

  • This process also removes any moisture

which extends the life of the sieve material

Things to Consider

Both short and long range planning should be evaluated to ensure the correct system is chosen to meet the needs of the facility. Space in the facility has to be considered unless a R.O.C.S. is used. These may include:

Size of facility Oxygen usage patterns Future expansion, etc.

OPTIONS for Combining Source of Supply

 An OC should be sized to cover off the average peak demand of the HCF  A second option is to use an OC in combination with a bulk gas to supply where the OC would “peak shave” allowing the hospital to continue to use the existing size bulk tank, and use both supplies to meet their need. Oxygen Bottle Filling Station

An OC system can include an Cylinder Filling Station (CFS) in a R.O.C.S. or within the facility, if space is available. This station will use the excess O2 generated to fill bottles. If the hospital is using the full output, the filling station will stop until excess O2 is available.

Customized Solutions

Properly sized and designed,

  • n-site production provides an

immediate reduction in cost and virtually eliminates exposure to rising inflation due to either usage, transportation, or supplier price hikes. ON2 manufactures a range of concentrators that can produce from 7.5 LPM up to 515 LPM of 95% oxygen.
