FSL Review - 2012 Goal: To achieve high quality, sustainable French language instruction in YRDSB Outcomes:  Consistency of programming  Toolkit to address need for FI spaces and enable long-term accommodation plan

French Immersion in York Region DSB  Maintain Grade 1 entry  No capping  FI program offered in a variety of settings  Single Track  Dual Track  Primary Dual Track (Gr 1, Gr 1-2, Gr 1-3 grade structure)  This allows for the flexibility needed to address local needs across the Region  Ministry will not fund the Board where empty pupil places exist

FI Accommodation Plan: Mazo de la Roche PS  Create a Primary Dual Track at Prince Charles PS in 2019 for incoming grade 1 French Immersion students from the Mazo de la Roche PS French Immersion boundary  Students would return back to Mazo de la Roche PS for grades 2-8 French Immersion  The boundary will not be altered for this change

School Bell Times  Prince Charles PS 8:40 AM - 3:10 PM  Mazo de la Roche PS 8:00 AM - 2:30 PM

Transportation (Policy 680.0)  Students are eligible for transportation if:  JK-3 students live > 1.2km from school  Grade 4-8 students > 1.6km from school  Transportation stops will be posted in mid to late August 2019  Student Transportation Services will determine routes during summer months schoolbuscity.com > Find Your Bus Stop, enter your address

Before & After Care  Both schools offer before and after school care  Students can attend at either site for before and after care, but must be registered with the provider  Transportation provided (if qualified as per the policy) between before and after school care

Families with Siblings  Siblings are in different schools currently for Kindergarten and French Immersion  The Primary Dual Track model may mean that FI siblings are in different schools longer  We are providing this information ahead of time for families when considering the FI program

Next Steps  Prince Charles PS will host the French Immersion Information night in January 2019  For students enrolled in a YRDSB school:  Obtain principal signed student index card from your home school and provide 1 piece of ID to the Prince Charles PS office staff  For students not in YRDSB:  Full registration package is available at Prince Charles PS  Transportation stops for qualifying students will be posted in mid to late August 2019
