Using the laptop at RSC  Students MUST bring their laptop to school charged  Access to wireless network, student folders and printers.  Access to online content  Various uses in class  Handwriting still used  Establishment of protocols

Using the laptop at Home  Tasks not requiring internet can be done anywhere any time  Use the internet  Access RSC network  Must comply with RSC Acceptable Use Agreement

Tips for Parents 1. Laptop should be used in a central place 2. Ask your child to show you what they have been doing (it is primarily for school use) 3. Discuss strategies for avoiding and / or dealing with online issues (i.e. cyberbullying) 4. Set time limits for laptop use 5. Try not to use the removal of the learning device as a punishment

Safe Usage & Acceptable Use  Student Agreement  Adhere to the RSC Acceptable Use Agreement for BYOD, the Internet and Digital Technologies  Communicate issues if they arise  Parent Agreement  Support correct student laptop use  Adhere to RSC Acceptable Use Agreement  Agree to $50 excess if insurance claim is made and other associated charges to replace missing equipment.

Safe Usage and Acceptable Use 2.1.1 The student must bring portable devices fully charged to school every day. Power cords should be left at home. 2.2.3 For devices insured through iBroker, in the case of suspected theft, a police report must be attained by the family and a copy of the report provided to the school in a timely manner. 2.2.4 For devices NOT insured through iBroker, in the case of suspected theft, the parent/carer is wholly responsible. 2.2.5 For devices insured through iBroker, in the case of loss or accidental damage, RSC must be informed of the loss or damage immediately, where it will assist on the parent’s/carer’s behalf to lodge an insurance claim with iBroker. The insurance excess must be paid by the parent for the claim to proceed. 2.2.6 For devices NOT insured through iBroker, in the case of loss or accidental damage, the parent/carer is wholly responsible.
