THE CREW
Parvati charters with a crew of eight, with an emphasis in efficient, but discreet service. Russell Reid , Captain Originally from Hertfordshire, UK, has been the Captain of M.Y. Parvati for over 6 years. He lives with his family in France. Always having an interest in the sea, he did a degree in marine chemistry, and was a keen offshore racing yachtsman at weekends while working in London. In 1997, together with a friend, he built a boat and took part in the inaugural Trans-Atlantic Rowing Race, rowing from Tenerife to Barbados in 63 days. He has many trans-Atlantic crossings under his belt, having run a number of sailing yachts including S.Y. Lutine , S.Y. Oceana , S.Y. Maria Alba. After completing his 3000- tonne license in 2002, Russell has worked on charter yachts such as M.Y. Philosophy , M.Y. Double Up , and M.Y. Avella. Russell keeps the atmosphere relaxed and efficient on board with an emphasis on Safety First, and is an experienced charter captain having run charter yachts for 15 years.
Simon Higson , Chef Simon is 29 years old and from the North West of England. Simons understanding of fresh, seasonal produce has been instilled in him since early childhood developing a keen interest in food helping his mother in the vegetable garden. Since his chef apprenticeship at the Hunters lodge in Cheshire Simons career has taken him to fine dining restaurants, boutique hotels and prestigious chalets in the French Alps. Taking inspiration from extensive travels Simon is happiest when he is scouring the local markets for the finest ingredients which he uses in his exciting and imaginative menus. Simon is also an avid snowboarder, surfer, kite surfer and mountain biker. Jules Thomson, Chief Stewardess Originally from Southport, UK, Jules graduated with a degree in Hotel Management. After graduating, she went on to open her own business in Children’s designer ‘fashion wear’. Progression moved her on to the corporate world of advertising, HR, Marketing & Sales. Jules has always travelled extensively and the love of the sea brought her to start an amazing career in yachting 3 years ago. In the last 7 seasons, she has sailed extensively doing back to back seasons in both the Mediterranean and the Caribbean. Working on 47m M.Y. Mirgab V, 47m M.Y. Ingo t and 52m Schooner yacht Meteor where she competed in sailing regattas in the Caribbean, she joined Parvati in 2011. Jules loves the outdoors and loves all water sports, mountain biking, skiing and golf. Stuart Taylor, Engineer Stuart joined us last year, and he comes to us from a merchant shipping background. Stuart is 31 years old, and British. Meticulous and considerate, Stuart is often out on the deck, helping other crew members. Niels Ellis, Mate Niels is 25 and comes from Auckland, New Zealand. Since joining Parvati in July 2011 as a deckhand/steward, he has since progressed into the lead deckhand role. Niels has a passion for music, sports and always brings an energetic attitude toward his job. Andrew Moran, Deckhand Andrew is 25 years old from Sydney, Australia. He has been working in the hospitality industry for 6 years. Andrew loves water sports and music. Fun loving, he is very sociable and always has a smile on his face.
