21 Eight days later, when the baby was
circumcised, he was named Jesus, the name given him by the angel even before he was conceived.
SLIDE 4 Luke 2:21-35NLT
22 Then it was time for their purification

SLIDE 5
Luke 2:21-35NLT
23 The law of the Lord says, “If a

Luke 2:21-35NLT
24 So they offered the sacrifice
required in the law of the Lord—“either a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons.”
SLIDE 7
Luke 2:21-35NLT
25 At that time there was a man in
Jerusalem named Simeon. He was righteous and devout and was eagerly waiting for the Messiah to come and rescue Israel. The Holy Spirit was upon him

Luke 2:21-35NLT
26 and had revealed to him that he
would not die until he had seen the Lord’s Messiah.
SLIDE 9 Luke 2:21-35NLT
27 That day the Spirit led him to the
- Temple. So when Mary and Joseph
came to present the baby Jesus to the Lord as the law required,

Luke 2:21-35NLT
29 “Sovereign Lord, now let your

34 Then Simeon blessed them, and he
said to Mary, the baby’s mother, “This child is destined to cause many in Israel to fall, and many others to rise. He has been sent as a sign from God, but many will oppose him.

Isaiah 53:2–5ESV
2 For he grew up before him like a
young plant, and like a root out of dry ground; he had no form or majesty that we should look at him, and no beauty that we should desire him.
SLIDE 21
Isaiah 53:2–5ESV
3 He was despised and rejected by
men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
SLIDE 22
Isaiah 53:2–5ESV
4 Surely he has borne our griefs and
carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted.
SLIDE 23
Isaiah 53:2–5ESV
5 But he was pierced for our
transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.

Hebrews 12:1–2ESV
1 Therefore, since we are surrounded
by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,
